does anyone have a recommendation for a fast (read worsted or larger yarn) cardi for a 12 month old?

Any knitting pure and simple pattern or any that is a top down raglan. (I use an Ann Norling) A good pattern will come in several sizes, and you can always customize the stitch patterns on subsequent editions.

I am with Bets - KPS has very good patterns for that. They even have a top-down hoodie that is very cute and easy to knit. For a girl, Classic Elite`s Provence is a favorite of mine. Sorry I don`t have links, but you shouldfind them easily on Ravelry.

I`ve made this one several times, with different collars or with a hood. Plus it`s free. http://tinyurl.com/25juun

I`ve knit the Provence cardi and I have the KP&S pattern for the children`s neckdown bolero that could be downsized for a 12 mo old.

thank you! I am loving the top down options.. particularly since I never seem to have just the right amount of yarn. you can get really creative with cuffs and hems if you are desperate!
