See the new Lana Pura yarn next week is 100% tasmanian wool. Is there some special feature to that source of wool? Long soft staples, maybe? Merino-ish? Gorgeous colors and great price but itchiness is always the #1 priority for my whiny gift recipients. ;-p

I`ve been trying to find a thread about this too. I vaguely recall reading something. I`m assuming here or Ravelry but I can`t find it.

It`s wool from Tasmania, the island state off the south coast of Australia. Google `tasmanian wool` and you`ll find lots about it.

I was aware of the location, just not the properties of the resulting fiber. Wondered how it compared fiber-wise to, say, Peruvian wool, and how it felt as a knitted fiber. Oh well. Will wait on the reviews.

Do google it as you will find lots of info and reviews. It was way too much for me to summarize. Alice Salt Spring Island

Joan, from what I gleaned, it does sound like it`s suppose to be top of the line merino used in next to skin applications.
