It is an encyclopedia of Fair Isle. The history, samples, color theory, patterns, design your own. It is to fair isle what Barbara Walker`s books are to stitches. A must have.

I preordered it from Amazon in February and it just shipped so I think it is brand new.

So happy for you, Amy! I know this has been one of the many AS books which have become very hard to find. Enjoy!!

Oh. I`d read in the Amazon write-up that this was a re-issue/reprint of a 1988 book. Whatever, I hope you have much enjoyment of it.

Thanks for bringing attention to this reprint! I don`t know how Dover (reprint publisher) got AS to give permission but kudos to them, also for keeping EZ`s Knitting Almanac in print. I remember seeing the previous edition a long time ago and was impressed by the large, clear black and white sketches of techniques...I thought this could really be doable for me someday!

I read somewhere that this is one of the very few (perhaps the only) book where the author did not retain full rights to it.
I think she`s held fast to everything else, otherwise we`d have seen a slew of reprints of those impossible to find/insane to buy titles. And boy have I lusted after a couple of them!

Oh, that explains it. I was lucky enough to get Aran Knitting from an Interweave online hurt book sale awhile back, little did I know it would go OOP and be in high demand now! Fisherman Knits in paperback and which is still in print, I have too, and is just as beautiful I think!
