Sugar, of the fabulous `dogs in scarves` photos, went on the long walk at the vet`s yesterday. It was time. I have no idea what to do without a dog!!

Bets I am so sorry Sugar is gone. It may have been time for her, but I doubt it was time for you to say goodbye.

I`m sorry, Bets. I know this was coming for a while, but it can`t be easy. Hugs for you and DH.
Ok, well, I`ll hug you, and you can hug him for me. Because "Hello, I`m one of your wife`s knitting dorks and I am here to hug you about your dog," is too strange, even for me. (Apparently there is such a thing as too strange, even for me. Who would have thought?)

Ok, well I will do that, but I want you to go sit down next to Miss Wanda, and pet her until you find her tickle spot, the one on her side (somewhere between her ribcage and ear) that she thinks is so delightfull, it makes her legs twitch like she`s scratching herself.
And the dog won`t care if you pet her on my behalf, because she`s cool like that!

Ouch. So hard to make that decision. It alwaysleaves such a gap even when you are convinced you are doing the right thing, and have known for quite some time it was coming.

Oh,bets, I`m sorry you had to tell Sugar goodbye. I know how tough that is no matter how much it is time. The horned toads are going to be out of control in your yard without Sugar riding her on them. I think you need a 4-footed friend again when you`re ready.

So sorry to hear about Sugar. It is always hard to lose a pet. Take care of yourself. I recommend soothing yourself with some of this wonderful yarn that is going on sale. You deserve it.

Thanks everyone. We`re muddling along. DH and I talked about it-the next dog won`t be a replacement for Miss Sug-she was such a nice girl. The next dog has to be who he/she is, and that`s that. It will be a while, but DH has taken it in his head that two boxer puppies are no more work than one. Psssh.

So far Wanda is WAAAAAY less work than any one of the three boys, but then, they are all pretty high maintenance models...
