No one has really asked about this, so I don`t know how interested people are, but I am opening sign ups for 2009 with a few changes.

Change number one is I MUST have your box by October 12. I couldn`t get them out on time last time because I let my various things I had to do get logjammed and I don` want to do it again. If it`s not here by OCt 12, the ship sails without it.

Change number two is that if you are interested in cutting postage costs, I am willing to see if we have enough people who sign up for envelopes to make a group. The theory behind this is whatever you make has to fit in a flat rate envelope to be sent to me. I figure that means one of each thing will still fit in the flat rate envelope.

Clearly this limits what you can send, and probably makes for a package high in magnets, jewelry, and bookmarks, but then again, if you know that and you like the idea, it won`t be any surprise to you. When you sign up let me know if you want this option. If I get at least 7 people who want it we will run with it.

other than that, same idea as always - make ten of something, something you`d like to get and that would sell for between 5-10 dollars in a major metro area (This means that if you can buy a running Buick for five bucks in your area you have to call me for a reality check...).

One person has already let me know she can`t play this year, one person has already let me know she has her stuff done, and I have at least got a plan... go for it! Sign ups close Labor day (First Monday in September...)

I thought someone did ask a while back and did not see any answer, so I figured you were taking a - very deserved! - break this year and forgot about it... Now I have to really think if I can realistically dive in and be done on time. It was a lot of fun last year!

I just want to let you know I am going to pass this year, but I appreciate being a part for the last 3 years, and maybe next year I will be back!

Why yes, I have a plan. And a back up. So sign me up. I believe I can go the small route. As opposed to mailing bricks, like I did last year. ;-)

I too want to play. I have no idea what I`m doing yet, but will make sure that it will fit in the envelope.

Thanks
D.

I thought you would never ask! LOL!

I`ve already made 3 out of the 10.... there will be NO red faces from my ubber practical gift this year;-)

Diane

Hey, just a thought but... should we do a separate Canadian one this year? Would it make your life easier to split it up, T? I could volunteer if you like the idea. Who do we have....SK, Alice, Billie, Les, Moi.....There are more but I don`t think well before finishing my coffee!

The reason that we separated out last year was because my gift was heavy, and in my mind, it would have been robbery for you guys to pay extra postage for it (the glass snowman on Marie`s blog)

If we are in light envelopes this year, I don`t think it`s as critical. And I want YOU to not make me an uber-practical gift this year!!!

Ok....for `you` I could come up with something more interesting! (If you are in my group or not;-)

Those painted Santa thingme`s you made last year are sooo cute! Too bad they were too heavy to send north!

I`ve a couple items made. While light, I`m not sure of the fit in an envelope....

Crap. Crap. CRAP! It`s already that time of year?!

I wanna play, though I`m not sure I can get something together and mailed by October 12.

I actually HAVE an idea this year too! And I even started back in February and made 2 items (!) ... though the first was an experimental flop, and the second came out OK, but this is not a one-item-per-person kind of thing ... which means I`d have to make more than 10 items for my group.

If I can get my act together and make enough for 10 people, I`m pretty sure I can stuff them all into an envelope.

What size is this flat rate envelope?

It was tremendous fun. If only I could come up with a light weight idea. I`ll put my thinking cap on and get back to you!

T knows already that I am out for `09, unless someone wants to fly down and be my copy editor or (better yet) grade papers.

I will just have to live vicariously through the rest of you from the sidelines. :)

Jamie,
You are too sweet. You know all too well how it is to come down the home stretch. I appreciate the encouragement and your generous offer.
