The number of stitches CO to achieve the triangular shape of the shawl doesn`t seem to jive with the scallop lace pattern, including the selvedge stitches.

Hopefully, someone who knit it will pop in!

Hi Lena,
It`s a few years since I knit the shawl, but I`m pretty sure that the CO of 13 stitches is correct. The scallop pattern uses 11 stitches (9 + 2), and the shawl`s additional selvedges use 1 stitch on each side - 11 + 2 = 13

Lena From what I remember, the count is correct, but you need to watch carefully for the first few increases until you get into the rhythm. The edge stitch of one colour band becomes one stitch of the repeat after the increase and you have a new edge stitch. I remember using a lot of stitch markers as it grew bigger, and checked carefully for 9 stitch repeats plus an extra stitch ONLY on the first and last repeats.
Hope this helps Alice Salt Spring Island
