I love lace, and your shawl is simply gorgeous! From your comments with the photos, the construction is quite unusual. Did you enjoy working the pattern? What color of Elann`s laceweight merino did you use?

Thanks Barbara - it really was one of those projects that you enjoy knitting all the way through because it is so interesting. And the construction meant that there was only a large number of sts on the needle for a very short time.
It was Irish Moss - just over 1 ball is all that was needed. It would have been under a ball, i think, except Keevy got hold of it a few times and the resulting tangles had to be broken off.
There are more pics on my Rav page - though the light isn`t great today because it is raining very hard (and the pics were taken on the bed in Niamh`s room where she was napping at the time, so I couldn`t pull the blind up, LOL).

I love the colour and how soft it is - this might be a project i keep for myself.
Eileen.

That`s absolutely gorgeous! It sounds complicated, your description of how it is constructed makes my head hurt. You should definitely keep this for yourself.

I had a little laugh when I read your comment about it being an "interesting" knit. I think "interesting" to you translates to "rip my hair out" to me. It`s beautiful! I wish I could tolerate more "interesting" knits! I hope you keep it!

Staggering! How big is it? I can`t judge properly.
T,who also thinks it should go in the fair, and oh, a friend of mine is going to be playing in a band there!

It`s a bit smaller than the size on the pattern because I went down in needle size to make it more comfortable for me (it called for #5 needles with the lace weight and it was just too airy-fairy and hard for me to control) - about 72" by 27".
Yep, this is the project I was planning for the fair - i figured if that FBS I did could get a blue ribbon, then the judges tend to be more impressed by lace than is really called for.
I`m also going to be entering an Alice Starmore sweater if I can get it done in time.
T - what`s the name of the band? Are you going to be at the fair this year, as we will definitely be going! There`s a big Irish festival going on at the county fairgrounds near to us right now - did you ever go to that when you were up here?
Eileen.

Eileen - is that Irish festival at Hunter Mountain? I`ve never been there.
I don`t think we will be going to the fair this year because we are going to Williamsburg and that is an unusually big vacation for us. I have to find out from Keith when he is playing. It is at one of the smaller music venues, not the grandstand, but I`ll let you know the schedule just in case you can catch him.

I don`t even have to see the others. You win , E. I think the only problem you will have is topping this next year!

EXACTLY my thoughts. Would be mind boggling for anyone to achieve, but with two wee ones still in the intensive manual labor stage? an incredible feat.
