Okay, I`ve got the a date with the surgeon (who does not look like George Clooney, darn it) for Thursday, June 18,2PM. It will be a kinda major deal, with a large abdominal incision (even longer than the last one ?!), cutting my esophagus, moving my stomach up and over and then another laproscopic surgery on the upper flapperdoodle so I won`t keep choking. He said the average stay was 3-5 days or so. I had to wait because he will be in and out of town for medical conferences and he said he wanted to be in town in the days followoing my surgery. I do appreciate that. He`s partners with the guy who literally saved my life last time so I`m comfortable with him even is he doesn`t look like George. ;)
I am much relieved to know what is happening and when. Looks like I will be on a Gerber style diet for a couple of months. Wonder how prime rib and horseradish tastes after you run it through the blender? Now I just have to get my knitting and drawers packed. :)
I will have Thom let you all know I am okay. Don`t believe a word he says about me being a lousy housekeeper with too much yarn. HA!

Maybe he`ll look more like George after you`ve taken enough pain killers. :-)
I`ll be sending you positive thoughts on the 18th.

Having a date and knowing what will happen is a relief. Now to pick out what knitting goes with you and to think up blenderific dream meals...

That`s my DH`s b-day, so very easy to remember for me! Major reminders to St. Anthony (that`s his saint, and what a big help he has been for us!!!) on your behalf. Now about those meals - are you sure you don`t want to stock up on baby food jars? lol Let me know, I may want to buy Gerber stock... Kidding aside, take good care of yourself while you wait. You want to be totally rested and in top shape for the surgery. The housework will still be there after you recover, alas!
Hugs,
Marta

Please take care of yourself between now and then, so you`ll be at your strongest for the surgery. Eat lots of smoothies - hey, ice cream tastes just as great when it`s melted! ;)

Hmmm-you`ve got a really good excuse for a new blender, if you need one.
I am glad you know what`s going to happen and when. He doesn`t have to look like George Clooney as long as he can Chuck Norris your innards.
XOXO

Benne, You will be in my thoughts and prayers, too! I am thinking you will become a blender gourmet by the end of your recovery :-). Sandra

Benne,
I`ll have a candle lit before the IOP for ya....this is saying alot because Syd spilt the hot wax all over the place last time but I`m just gonna have to tell her that Benne needs it!

Oh, Benne, I`m glad that you now have a date set for surgery. It can be so awful waiting for that call. Remember you are a surgeons dream to work on. ;-} Will be sending positive thoughts your way until then and after. Get Thom practicing with that blender and stock up on lots of tasty foods to have on hand. xx00 Les

Benne, I have added you to the prayer list in church. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Pick some easy patterns to knit while recovering. I made the mistake of attempting to knit a sock heel while on pain meds and it was NOT pretty.
Take care Denise

Thanks so much everyone! I am going to attempt to remedy some of the housekeeping issues. The yarn is here to stay. :)
I`ll have a garter stitch only project going on and now is definitely not the time for me to learn to knit socks!

That`s a relief to have a date. How about arranging for your local version of `Molly Maid` to come in and do all that needs doing? Housework will not improve your health or strength - positively bad for them. Just about anything will go through the cuisinart. It`s the appearance of food which suffers rather than the taste. Baby food, on the other hand, has almost no taste. Plan knitting where you can see progress each day. Think about shadow knitting - the Vivian Hoxboro kit which Lorraine brought north for me last year was salvation with my broken ankle. I could manage the colour changes and alternating garter and stocking stitch with all my meds, but that was my limit. Just enough to keep me interested. You need to stock up on yarn in advance so that you can lie in a lounge chair and knit the summer away.

Benne, Glad you have the date set. Now sit down and plan what you must do before the date and then relax. Being rested is such good advice! May you be blessed with a safe surgery and quick recovery. My prayers for you and a big hug! Jamie

Benne we will be praying on all four burners... (mixing metaphors or something there but I know you know what I mean.)
And I will ask my boy which kinds of mush are most delicious...

Now Benne...really....how can you not get better with all thee prayers going on for you. You would have to be a crazy person to dissappoint your cyber-friends and do anything but have the very best recovery ever. I believe in you and your ability to have a good recovery. All the Best, Love Evelyn
