Hi ~ This is my first post to the group. I am making this wrap and I`m having a terrible time figuring out the lattice section. I`m more than likely reading something into the pattern that`s not there... I have requested help from customer service, but was hoping that someone here has made this beautiful wrap and could give me some hints as to where I`m reading the pattern incorrectly. I`m so anxious to finish the knitting and start the beading.
Thank you so much, Joanne Mc - Burbank, CA

Hey there, girlfriend!! Welcome to the Elann chat group.
For all you Elannites, Joanne is a very good knitting friend and one of the best knitters and crocheters in my much-mentioned seniors` group here in Burbank.

Hi CatBookMom and thank you so for the compliment! I have picked up and put down that lattice section one too many times...I`m afraid I`m in a rut and just repeating something that`s not actually part of the written instructions. It will be one of those `duh` moments I`m sure. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Take care all, Joanne Mc

I`ve glanced at this pattern a hundred times, Joanne. But I`ve never taken a really good look at it, let alone, knit it. Wow! This is a beautiful pattern, Joanne! Whatever you do, don`t give up...
And a HUGE WARM WELCOME! Will we be seeing a Bio? Maybe a picture of you wearing this gorgeous shawl?

Joanne-
I was hoping Lisa would pop by and see your post. What problem are you having? You are knitting a square from point to point (diagonally) and working a slip stitch pattern into it. The beads are sewn on afterwards.
Bets, who has not made this wrap, but has used slipped stitch patterns before, and knit stuff on the diagonal, and hopes to be helpful....

While I haven`t made it, I think I understand it. Can you be more specific where you are having trouble? There are several things going on simultaneously, color changes, increasing or decreasing at the edge, the slip stitch pattern itself.

Hi Scully, Marie, Bets, Billie, Barbara and SK ~ Thanks so much for your support! The thing is, I follow the instructions and the pattern I get is all `cattywampus`. I`ve been through some knitting pattern books trying to find a pattern similar to this, but have had no luck. I`m going to take the whole shebang with me to our `ladies group` this afternoon...Hopefully, Barbara, you`ll be able to look at it and give me your "Ah, HA!!, I see what you`re doing"! It`s more than likely I`m reading something into the instructions that`s not even there...It`s going to be a beautiful wrap/shawl when finished - and I can`t wait to wear it!
I will write a bio and post it soon, Hugs to all, Joanne Mc

If you have a Barbara Walker book, she discusses slipped stitch patterns. Have fun hanging with everyone!

Welcome, Joanne! It`s great to have a new elannite here. I haven`t knitted the Tapestry shawl, but it is beautiful. What yarn and colors are you using? Lucky you to have a local knitting group and a good friend like Barbara close by. That`s what the chat center does for me, knitters as close as my keyboard. :-}
