Such temptation! The Austermann Mayfair is in many lovely summery colors, and the patern is a beautiful mostly-lace pullover. But I`m on a yarn fast - pattern only with yarn..waahhh!

OMG, Ann, you`ve done it again! Elann now has Linus (love the name, so apropos!), its own linen yarn. Plus the Gedifra Beauty Cotton in so many summery colors and coordinating melanges. And the lovely shimmery yarns, too.
Now I have to fight off the buying urges again.... Sigh

I know...I got mine in the mail today, and I shook my head. I am so lost. Just when I had steeled myself not to buy anything that is currently available or coming next week, I get this newsletter with that creamy linen, and that lovely shawl -- And that beauty cotton is gonna kill me, and that pullover on the back page is right up my alley. I`m going to have to go into hiding for the month of June.
And if that weren`t tempting enough, I got my Knit Picks newsletter today too. Sigh...

The shawl is fabulous, no question! I don`t know about knitting with pure linen. Does anyone have any input? The samples are so tiny and feel almost waxy. But I understand that linen softens over time as it is washed.
I am so not the right shape or height for either of the Gedifra pullovers, not to mention this is Burbank, where it`s currently 91F at 5:30pm. But I really love the geometrical designs. These would look really good on you, Jayne, being slender.
For another idea, I saw the prettiest round-neck short-sleeve top at a LYS in Florida, made with an Egyptian cotton that was softly plied like the Beauty Cotton; they worked it with an Eros-type railroad ribbon yarn, and it looked as if half of the stitches here and there were ribbon.

Maybe so about the Gedifra pullovers, Barbara, but the one I liked was the Schoeller Arosa pattern witht the lacy sleeves.
Oh, but I have some good patterns for the Gedifra, and the right climate too....MUST be strong...

Hi CBC, I`m late in replying, computer problems and a busy schedule which includes plenty of sleep. I knit one sweater long ago with linen. The sweater was lovely but working with linen is quite different from wool, and is less give than cotton. The results are worth it IMO but it is a stiff fiber to knit with. That shawl is sooo beautiful....! Makes me want to get some linen. Happy knitting, Jamie
