Emily. That hat is really something. It`s a great color- for the sophisticated baby! I think your friend should be very excited to get such a nice baby present.
Hope all is well in your new home- Bri

That is one of my fave yarns. I can`t imagine anything softer against a babies head. And I love the design.

Lovely, elegant hat, Emily. I love the yarn, the color and the design. Baby`s hats stay cleaner that their sweaters, etc. so it should provide beauty and warmth for quite a while. Jamie

Aww,that`s cute Emily. Are those knit or crocheted squares? I`ll bet it feels wonderfully soft in that yarn. You might want to include a mini bottle of Eucalan with the gift like Benne does with "special" knits! Les

Very pretty hat Emily. I am knitting with the Barakole which I`ve heard is similar to the Taj and can`t imagine anything softer or more delightful against the skin...well worth the hand washing! Sandra

Well thanks, all. I do really like the Taj Mahal. Do they make it anymore? I did a little search and didn`t turn up much. Very soft, not splitty. It`s all knitted, with a free pattern I found from Bernat. http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=172
I didn`t continue along in the pattern towards the back of the head. It was one of those "continue along it pattern" directions, and I didn`t have the patience to figure it out. It`s a sort of leafy lace, and the free pattern didn`t have a chart. I dislike those patterns of all words. But it made a cute hat. I did I-cord ties rather than a purchased ribbon. I also apologized to mom for the handwash. I`m hoping that the softness of the yarn makes up for the lack of machine washing.
But every baby should have at least one heirloom item, I think.

Oh, and I should have said....I hope that the yarn color is okay with mom and dad.
I like colors OTHER than pink or blue for babies, and I rather like the gentle purple. It`s not lavender, and not bright purple either. Love that Taj Mahal.
