Oh, boy, the summer is winding down and the school year starting.
Still dealing with flood things - repairs, prevention etc. Oh, I can empathize with the folks in Florida, Louisianna etc! Though I can`t imagine the violence of the hurricane and the wall of water - those poor people.
Going to pick up my oldest daughter from her summer job in a couple of days so she can go to U soon and getting my DD#2 off to U for the first year. Son just back from camp where they backpacked in rain and snow - build character, right? Exciting, bittersweet, times!
Haven`t been knitting for a while. Must pull out something and get back into the groove. Not like I don`t have any yarn!!
You are all doing such neat things. I love your Sportlight cardigan Shui Kuen. That looks like a sweater to wear all of the time this fall. You have made it a perfect fit for you. How did your summer go for you? Fun with your visitors?

Les: Thank you for the beautiful hat, the color combination is so artistic. I haven`t managed to try modular knitting, it is very intricate. Thanks again.

Les, what a lovely gift! The hat is really attractive with the modular knitting and variegated yarn! You`re very clever, and generous!

Thanks, guys!
I was having trouble sending the pics. I had the 138 pixels but it was still too big. It was about 59 kb then I fiddled and all of a sudden it was 6 kb. I`ll send you an e-mail of the larger pic and dress it was covering, Bets.
Details: I used the "Somewhat Cowl" (Knit and Tonic blog) pattern to start the pattern which is top down (gauge was similar). I increased to where the two sides would meet in the middle and continued to knit down. I kept my fingers crossed that it would be long enough, but not too long, as I wanted it to tie neatly in the front without a lot of gathers. I then used Esprit to knit several repeats of your fav. ostrich plume pattern for the band. For ties, I picked up with Esprit and knit 2 chevron shaped ties. I also edged the sleeves with the Esprit using a 2x2 rib. I almost tossed it so many times as she lives in the city and wasn`t around much to try it on.
I`m really not much of a cotton knitter. My fingers are craving wool and alpaca! Better pick up that B&B!

Les,
Congratulations on both DD`s graduation and the beautiful bolero! I am in awe of you getting this done in time, with substantial pattern alterations, a mostly absent model, and challenging yarn! Also it is great that DD is launched successfully into adulthood; I`m keeping my hopes up that I`ll be able to feel the same way as you in 5 years!
