Shui Kuen-
They look BEAUTIFUL! I have to strive to block out my shawl so the points look that good. I am REALLY pleased with the way the color came out on that yarn in that project! (There wasn`t any color clumping, was there?) How big did your shawl come out to be? It looks terrific-it could be the pattern model-it looks like every stitch is perfect.
Where did you find the info on the fisherman`s hat? I don`t live anywhere that cold, but it looks just great! The socks are perfect too--Benne raves about them!

SK,
Benne is one lucky lady! And that shawl is stunning. The stitching is fantastic and now I really really want to be done with the FI so that I can CO the Kiri and Mystery Shawl #2 (I`ll do #1 later)

Wow Shui Kuen - breathtaking projects yet again! Bets, bravo with the handpainted yarn, it looks fantastic! It`s like a little project collaberation between you and SK!

Bets, After I frog this Kiri, cast on and finish it, will you teach me/us how to hand-dye beautiful yarn like you did for Shui Kuen? It is beautiful!!!

The Kiri does look gorgeous in the hand-dyed yarn. Maybe I will suspend my judgment on my kiri until it it stretched out. Got to get back to work on it.

Bets, can you let us know what yarn you used to hand paint for Shui Kuen’s Kiri, and how did you do it. It is really fabulous – great yarn and great knitting by Shui Kuen! Gail.

Shui Kuen is a tricky person to buy a gift for-she`s an expert knitter, she has impeccable taste, and she shops here already!
But I had a few skeins of Baruffa Cash-Silk I had picked up at LYS (very similar to Taj Mahal, which Ann carried last year)....and you know I can never do anything plain! So I think I got out the Wilton food colors and did a microwave dye-job.
I am pleased she used it to such a great effect!

SK - are you sure you`re just one person? With all the gorgeous projects you seem to get finished in a short period of time, I`m thinking you must be 3 knitters! LOL! The Kiri is gorgeous, the helmet and the colors of the wool are lovely, and you HAVE to give ME those socks!! Or at least the pattern!!
Seriously, you are a fabulous knitter. Your work is inspiring!

Barbara: the socks and hat were last winter`s projects. I only finished the shawl together with Bets and ..... The sock pattern is from "homespun handknit, caps, socks, mittens and gloves" by Linda Ligon. I got this book in 80`s and learned all the small projects from this book. My DH calls this book my Chairman Mao`s red book. Shui Kuen

Thank you. Seriously, your sweaters are just fabulous and inspiring for cable knitters. I`m hoping that, after taking Alice`s cables class in June, I`ll be able to make DH the vest I`ve promised him. I have only swatched it (posted the pic a long time ago), but he`s started reminding me that `winter` is coming. LOL!

Shui Kuen, I have this book, but never really looked at it. I just took it out and plan to read it cover to cover and try a project from the book, thanks for all the inspiration! Gail

Shui Kuen, Fantastic! Every time I look at your postings I see more projects that I want to try, especially in this case, the Kiri and the Maltese hat! The Kiri pattern really shows up well in Bet`s handpainted yarn. The hat looks very cute and functional, I need to do a couple for my kids this winter, or sheesh, myself! Sandra

SK,
I just finished clue 2 and am starting clue 3 for the mystery shawl #1. This shawl starts at the neck and then works its way down. I didnt realize it until halfway through the second clue.
Again I`m using BC for this as well with US7 needles. I have to say that I am really liking the outcome of this. The fabric is quite lovely. Also the shawl gets really big really fast!
Are you using the Kid Silk Haze by Rowan? I saw some of this at a LYS but didn`t get it as I was getting needles (Addi of course). Although the next time I`m there I`m going to seriously contemplate getting this. I"m a bit scared of it as it is so fine and I have never knitted anything on such fine yarn before.

Libby: I am on the beginning of clue 2. I didn`t realize that was from top down until I finished the first clue. I am using the kid mohair I bought last year here at Elann. It is dark green and the pattern changes so often, I still don`t have a good feeling of it. I am using size 8 straight needles, may be I can see better with circular. Shui Kuen

SK,
I started clue 3 last night and I have to say that this one is very very very easy to memorize. I was amazed at how fast it went as well. Clue 2 was a bit more hard for me to keep track of but 3 is a breeze.

Libby: I am half way through the clue #2. I started seeing the diamond, FB and heart shape patterns emerging. It is easier to know what I am expecting. The dark green is very difficult for my eyes at the evening. Yes, it is growing fast. #3 looks very complicated to me. Shui Kuen

#3 looked very complicated to me as well but once you see where you are going with it, it is very easy to "read" your knitting and not the chart.
