I am really not too bad, and even if I was DH wouldn`t say a word.He is the one who saves everything, empty paint cans pieces of wire, old coffee makers. My home is lived in but by no means unkempt or dirty. I only have a few of those "white boxes" and they are put away to be used at a later date.
I was hoping someone else saw Oprah and the poor people who are so out of control with hoarding. A few months ago Oprah had a cleaning team go to one ladies house and clean it from top to bottom. It was so bad, dogs went to the bathroom everywhere, she had 3, even on her bed, in the shower, anywhere they wanted to. She had not cleaned her house in years, food on the countertops, molded and totally disgusting, I actually gagged just seeing it. They tested the home and the bacteria level was so high that it was not fit for anyone to live in. Well they returned to her home 3 months later to see how she was doing and it was back to the same condition. Also, I am sure everyone has heard of people who hoard animals. They had a woman on who had 81 cats. This really is a sickness for some and it was so sad to see. Oprah was very supportive and has offered to help the people who were on the show by paying for therapy.
Yes everyone I am pretty excited about DH coming home. It was a year in March and it is time he brings his young a** home for good! ENOUGH, but I`ve said that before. Who knows what the next adventure will be :(

Patricia, I apologize for the flippant response. I didn`t understand that your DH has been away for a long time. I can only plead the inadvertent ignorance of a newbie to the chat center. Has he been in the Middle East?

OOOOOOO that is just nasty!!!! My grandmother was a hoarder but no where near that bad-she didn`t have pets. When we cleaned out her house one time my uncle had the trash company bring one of those industrial trash bins and we filled it 2x and she still had stuff left. We warned him to check all of the pockets before he threw stuff out and she had hid over $500 in her clothing. The funny thing was, she could tell you every item that he threw away!

Barb, I didn`t think that your response was flippant and was not offended in any way! DH has been in Kosovo for the past year helping with the training of the new police force. He is a retired policeman.

Dog poop on the bed, and you all don`t suspect a little "tampering with reality" by the producers and/or camera crew?

I think "reality TV" is about as real as pro wrestling... makes fun entertainment, but you don`t actually walk away thinking that was all real, do you?

Glad to hear Oprah offered to pay for therapy. Her `good deed` of cleaning the house most likely set off a psychotic episode.

MacChick, I hate to break the news, but the dog poop on the beds was probably NOT tampering by the film crew. DH has now morphed into a house renovator. He has now bought 4 houses in various states of disarray (the last one is actually VERY nice) mostly from elderly people who can no longer cope, or from the estate of people who haven`t been coping for YEARS!! There is almost always a liberal amount of animal evidence, one house the fleas and other signs were so bad not even he would buy it. Every time I skimp a little more on cleaning our house an image of how people get that way after living 40-50 years in one house flashes before my eyes, only I fantasize giant killer moths and a jungle of yarns piled on every surface, wading through skeins to get to the door...Daryl
