So, I am checking the good `ol bank account today to see how much more baby cashmere I can afford, when I noticed a $9.00 charge to my account with my credit card number. Now, I am a busy person and very rarely actually take notice of my statements (I know, bad, very bad), except that last month I noticed around this time I had a similar $9.00 charge. It looked weird to me, and that`s when I started putting my research skills to use.
A single Google search later explained the whole nasty situation to me. Turns out, when I something from joanns online in March 2004, I either mis-clicked onto something when I checked out or simply by purchasing from joanns.com, I was automatically enrolled into service I never authorized. This company has charged me $9/mo. since, which in the grand scheme of things got lost in all the monthly money spent. I added it up and flipped my lid when I saw that my carelessness cost me over $100. I followed the "how to recoop your money directions" on a website of angry fellow scammers from the Google search. If I didn`t have the funds for baby cashmere before, I definitely do now because they are refunding every penny.
Check your accounts, particularly if you shop at joanns online, expedia dot com, amazon dot com, or buy dot com. Those are other culprits of this web loyalty non-sense. Be wary of anything that talks specifically about `webloyalty.com` or `Reservationrewards`.
I have the action plan to get your money fully refunded saved if any of you need it. E-me for more details. Bri bcm378 at hotmail dot com

Yes, I came across something similar after purchasing some patterns from Blackberry Ridge. The screen thanked me for my order and told me I could "click here" for my "free reward".
I was pretty sure it was a scam but I clicked on it and was told that I could get $10 off of my next order for Blackberry Ridge by signing up. I read the small print and discovered that my "free" reward would actually cost me $9 a month for the next year. Spending $108 for a $10 gift certificate is not my idea of a good deal.
This is a scam and I have decided I will not do business a second time with any companies that offer these "free" rewards.

Thanks, Bri, for this information. Glad you got your money back. We all need to read the fine print but the bottom line is: there is nothing free in this world--be skeptical about any such offers. Happy knitting of Baby Cashmere, it must be lovely but I stay away because of the problems I have with alpaca. Wow! And it would be so easy to click on some little box in the process of checking out. Thanks for the heads-up! I`ve checked my VISA and our bank account, and there are no little gremlins like that.

Another place that has the free rewards is http://www.needleartsbookshop.com/home.html
Which is a shame, cause I really love her service. I learned long ago, from using free ecards to untick any boxes. Or you mail box would soon be full of junk. Really glad you are getting your money back Bri, enjoy the Baby Cashmere. Mine is waiting for the "right" project.

Good to know, Bri-I avoid all those boxes, because who needs the extra mail.
Hope you get your favorite color!

That`s pretty strange, because I`ve ordered from that online store a couple of times and never noticed any extra sorts of check-boxes. For a while last year, that was about the only place to find copies of Myrna Stahmans Shawls and Scarves book at less than $100.

The thing I am so upset about is that I am not an errant clicker when it comes to shopping. With most online sites, if you so much as double check, you`re double charged. This got me really worked up. I even called JoAnn`s online to tell them and to give the BBB write up of the `service provider`. From what the JoAnn`s people could tell me, it was not because I clicked on anything. They thought it was a free service for their customers, like an added bonus! LOL. It was free, to be truthful, for a single month, but you should never be automatically enrolled for something with any banking info passed to a 3rd party. That`s similar to what others reported from expedia and the rest of the companies I listed yesterday. Shady.
Nonetheless, with my new found windfall, it will be baby cashmere all the way. Look out world!! Bri

Yikes,Bri! I ordered an Ott light online from JoAnn`s. I`m going back and double-check my credit card bills. Thanks a bunch for the heads up. I am going to be VERY steamed if I`ve been charged for something I didn`t order. B2

I got one of those Ott lights, too. But I`ve looked at the last 2 or 3 of my VISA bills and there`s no little unknown charges. Guess I lucked out.

That is scary! I`m used to those pop-ups that occasionally I accidently open, but I`ll be especially aware now, thanks for the alert.
What are you going to make with the BC? I have two colors stashed, the parchment and rose; enough to make a scarf each. I`m thinking of the double knit scarf pattern from "Exquisite Little Knits". Enjoy your windfall, I`m glad you got your money back!
