We are always talking about whats on the needles during the week. Well I was wondering if any of us had any goals that we were specifically trying to get done this week.
I`m working on the AV sweater and I`m determined to finish it by the end of the month (may that is). I figure that if I worked on each piece of the sweater 1 week then it will be done in a month. This week my goal is to finish the back of the sweater and then start on the front.

So where are you now, and exactly what do I have to do to catch you? I haven`t done much-I`ve been distracted by little side projects that keep cropping up.

Somehow, when I try to set goals based on completed pieces or balls of yarn, I seem to go slower and slower. I do try to knit as much as I can during the week so I can work on shaping and tricky parts during the weekend-- with baseball season, knitting during the week is more constant.
I am now on the last rows of a Clapotis (knitty.com). After I finish the ends, I don`t know if I`ll have enough time to start a project for the week -- especially if I take the time to figure out pictures.

My big goal for the week is to get to the hand therapist. No Way can I knit right now, so I thought I would make myself a really simple dress - you know, four pattern pieces and if the edges don`t match exactly, who cares kind of sewing? Well, I unfolded the pattern paper and by that point my hands were too numb to cut out the pattern with the scissors.....Can everyone tell that I am a whiny little beast this morning???? T

Bets: I just got finished with the waist shaping decreases on the sweater and just about to start on the increases which will put me just under the lacy section.
Theresa: I`m hoping that you will be able to get to a hand therapist and that your dr will give you the referial so that you can go to him/her. when are you due?

My class begins Wednesday evening so my goal is to write up the hat pattern and knit one more sample. I also am almost finished with the baby vest and need to write that pattern up as well. Despite the glitches that come with making something up as you go along, I like it so much that I plan to do some variations. When I do, I will post the pattern and some pictures here. Cate

Goals for the week, plant 5 more Nandia to screen the neighbor, move the clumpping mexican petunas and replace with guara and lavendar, plant the new agave..... Oh you mean knitting goals lol. We are enjoying what is sure to be the last cool weather for the summer (highs in low 80s) so I`m focusing on the garden. In the knitting world, I`ve got a little project to finish this week, would like to swatch some lace patterns to test as a border then use one to finish the afghan albatross if my hands aren`t too rough from all the dirt, I`d also like to start the vest for my dad.

So, is screening the neighbor kind of like screening phone calls - the plant will tell you when the neighbor is behaving in unattractive ways? Or is it like screening a movie, and when neighbor least expects it, boom! Plant moves, you see all? Or is it like putting up a screen - good plantings make good neighbors? Having seen pictures of your plants, I am willing to believe you can get them to do almost anything...

Oh, her neighbors are boogers. Chris, I think we should have a HUGE summer solstice picnic in your backyard-an early Saturday morning breakfast-perhaps 6:30-complete with mariachis. hahahah
What say?

If I didn`t know better I would think she lived in my neighborhood. I was hoping some new people would move in with loud teenagers so the neighbor would complain about something other than my dogs. Are any of those plants 20 feet tall and act as a sound barrier? Now, I have been a good neighbor and not complained about his garage apartment that overlooks my entire backyard and the lady that sits up there smoking nearly every hour of the day.
I am hoping to finish and block the tank by the end of the week. Might not make it with my final unit due for class and my job thinking I should work 2 extra days just because someone went on vacation and they forgot to get a replacement. <sigh>, Engineers...

Don`t get me started on my neighbors @!@$#%#!!! Good plantings make good neighbors - unless they are hopeless (and these are)- but I`m trying :)
This lady sent us a complaining letter because we were using an electric screwdriver at 9am and it disturbed her.

I didn`t have room but you could plant bamboo, they grow from 15-40 feet tall. The clumping kind doesn`t send the obnoxious runners all over the place. I considered it for my problem, but it growns pretty wide. I needed to make sure nothing would hang over her side of the fence and didn`t have the space to plant far enough from the wall to avoid hang-over. Also, for my space, 15 ft tall would block all morning sun with the Pecan trees blocking the rest. Decided it would be too dark. The running kind of bamboo can be controlled if properly planted within a rhizome barrier. Bamboo may be just what you need to block that garage apartment view of your yard.

Neighbors can be a major PITA! In our case, it took a 2-foot addition to the block wall between us to make it safe to go out into our yard. Renters had 2 dogs right out of Stephen King, big crazed-looking things called catahoulas (sp?) that terrorized me. Happily the owner was willing to split the cost of the wall.
So you have my utmost sympathy about the 9am complainer. And I highly recommend bamboo for a quick barrier; ours has grown over 6in per year.
