Bets: We like pure Ceylon tea, with milk and honey. Unfortunately, we can only get blends from Ceylon, Assam, Kenya and Indonesia tea. Earl Grey and Rum tea is a little bit too fragrant to me. But we are not a connoisseur tea drinker afterall. Thank you, Bets.

PS: there is no little aluminum clasp.I only got two tea bags. Am I missing something?

Hi Shui Kuen-

The brown 5X7 office type envelopes with the aluminum fasteners (actually, any envelope with an aluminum faster) incurs extra mailing charges in the US postal system....I didn`t know that, but the postal clerk told me that.

I am not a connoiseur tea drinker either, I thought the rum tea could be a good alternative for all the dieting ladies who go to the health spa next door. If it tastes terrible, WOULD you tell me? (It smells good!)

Mark thinks it tastes like something to drink when you are sick. I thought it was good, but I am only one voice that has to please many...and I wouldn`t want it every day either. I bought a case of the mixed variety, and that sounds like it was a smart bet!

Hi Bets:
I am cleaning and organizing my yarn the other day. I found a beautiful birthday letter from you. I reread that and appreciate the art work you did to that yarn. I should really get that WIP out of the box and finish that shawl.
Second question: how is your bag wool sweater behave? What size needle did you use? I was thinking to use size 10.5, will that make it easy to pill? I washed the swatch and drying it right now, see how it will shrink. So far, the swatch is fuzz but not pill, looks good. I want to make a cable sweater from Rebecca.
I got 8 skein of optik which Benne ordered that for me. No idea what to do with it. Should that be a sweater with mohair or should that be a wrap, or should that be a scarf? What do you think? Both Benne and you always gave me good advices. Now,it seems that Benne is away. Did you get any of that? And what did you do with it?
Did I tell you that the modified starfish poncho is done, it drapes very well. I didn`t get a chance to block it.It looks like a silvery spider web.
Playing SC cotton this morning also, thinking a sunfish like Sandra`s. The swatch is drying now.

A word from the sadder but wiser bag wool user - be careful when you wash, it fulls very quickly and gets smaller fast! My swatch was fine but I can`t wear my sweater - WAH!

Cate: My swatch, before wash it was 11 st/3 inch. After wash 12/3 inches. I am calculating that if my sweater is going to be 42 inches, I will have to make it 46. I forget to measure the height`s difference. The pattern has a big panel of cable, I think I am getting lost. I really like the full feeling. I think I am going to put it back to the box right now.
Thank you Cate. Sorry to learn that you can`t wear your sweater. Do you know HW `s behaver?

Hi!

Shui Kuen, I looked in my photos, I think I deleted the photo of Mark before the sweater was fulled. I knit it on the Bond. I remember that I sent you a pattern (I didn`t save it!) for it in an incorrect gauge-the rows per 4" were calculated wrong, which made the sweater MILES too big, and then I fulled it. It REALLY pulls up in length when you full it. Check your correspondence from me sometime around November 30th.

I think if you plan to do this, it would be best to select a sweater pattern from the 80s, when everything was MILES too big (make sure the armhole is REALLY deep) and then go from there.

It is really a lovely fulled fabric-like Austrian boiled wool. Perhaps if you experiment on mittens you can get a good idea of how it behaves? I promise the mittens will be WONDERFUL---just make them 1 1/2" too long before the oversized thumb, and 2" too long after the thumb.

I will double check to see if I saved the pattern ANYWHERE, then I can at least tell you the gauge I used.

AHA!!!!

I mailed it to you!

The big mistake I made was trying to compensate for the Bond`s tendency to finish things SHORTER--I calculated the pattern at 15 stitches by 26 rows--which of course, came out ENORMOUS-much bigger than 4" per 26 rows, but in the end, it worked out.

Bets: your kiri is so attractive. I am debating to put down the WB vest and start the kiri. So far, I finished only the back of vest. Given another week, I will have the vest. If I start the kiri, I might end up an UFO for ever. May be I should have both going on at the same time. I am going to surprise you what I am going to use for my kiri.

Shui Kuen-

I know you have some hand-dyed merino (because I dyed it myself!) I was thinking about that last night-I thought "She doesn`t have to order any yarn, she could use that!" 400 yards-which I think is the amount I sent-should finish at least 7 motifs.

I was not brave-I was at 7 repeats and was considering whether I had enough to finish another repeat AND the edging. So I chose the short route. The edging instructions are a little vague, but it seems to be going ok. I have about 6 more rows before I finish. Perhaps Mark will model this!

I find that knitting with VERY thick yarn, like WB, gets a little hard on the hands-you may want to switch weights off and on.

Oh, Bets: you are wrong. I am planning to use that beautiful hand paint yarn which you gave me for my birthday, which is not merino, it is cashmere silk, my dear. How do you know that I am going to use that?

SK, we must be on the same channel. I think it will look beautiful-the color will be interesting, but won`t take away from the lace. I`m excited!

SK, I am a loose knitter (as opposed to a loose woman-hahaha!), and I am on 6s. If you normally knit to gauge, you might try a US 7 and see what you think.

Thank you Bets. I think I will have extra 100-150g. I am going to make a scarf or a hat. I remember you make a hat for your DD. How did she like it?
