What a gorgeous sweater, and a lovely sentiment right there in the pattern! Well done! Is that for the little one?

Eileen.

Eileen,

Yes its for Karolyn. However I messed up on the gauge but I have re-written the pattern so that the gauge is now correct as well as the sizing. I noticed that the sizing that I used (which was from the Readers Digest Sewing Book) is incorrect. So I did some research on the great WWW and found some sizing that looked more accurate. Now all I have to do is knit it!

Bri,

Thanks so much for asking and thinking of us. She is getting to be sooooooo big and talking up a storm. She is just very vocal (she takes after me!). Oh and she is definately having an attitude on her! and she gets mad at me easily when I tell her NO!!! I know its not funny for her but she is just soooo cute when she is pitching a fit.

Yesterday she wanted to play with my glasses. So she reached up and started to pull them off my face. Well I told her "no", so she took her little hand down, turned around, thought about it, and then looks at me with a grin on her face and reaches for the glasses again. So again I told her "no" in a stern voice. so what does the little stinker do? she scooches away from me and startes crying! So I went to her and told her that i still loved her but she cant play with mommys glasses and she was still crying and almost pushing me away.

Oh and she LOVES ice cream. She got mad one time when we got to the end of the bowl. She cried for a half hr over that one.

She is scooching all over the place. more of an army crawl really. And she is holding her bottle all by herself! She makes me soooo proud.

Ok I could go on and on and on but I`ll have to stop myself.

So thank you for asking and I`ll have to post pictures soon.

OH and she loves to play the piano with daddy and mommy. We just put her at it and she just bangs away. I call her my little Beethovan!

Dear Libby,
It sounds like such a fun time. She`s about as old as my dear friends` baby in AL and I got to thinking about K. when I started a birthday gift for my friends. I love that she`s playing piano. I think that is a really good developmental sign (I taught onesies and toddlers for a year btwn undergrad and grad, so I got a fast education in `good markers`). You`ll have to let us all know when she takes her first step. Any thoughts on the first birthday? Sounds like you`d better have an ice cream cake!

Enjoy every minute, Bri

OK I ordered. A few of the blue/turquoise and the golds. Any idea besides scarves? Or any idea for clever and innovative scarves?

Amy,

I`m thinking of doing the coat that is in the free pattern section but making it a short sleeve sweater/t-shirt instead.

did you get any of todays yarn?

I did. It was just too pretty to pass up. Although if I would stop buying so often in piecemeal with this pretext I would have enough money for all those projects I say I can`t afford!

Libby,
I rode the Steelers high yesterday and crashed last night. I think it`s starting to wear off a little, but that`s mostly because I go into post-season depression whenever football ends.

Hope you had a wonderful evening with DH and K. It looked really chilly in Michigan last night.

In response to the putting fronts on the shrug thing... I did this for DD`s Valentine`s Day sweater, and it worked beautifully. When the sleeves were done, and I went back to pick up the main body and finish it, I did several rows at the same stitch count, then started decreasing, keeping that going down to one last stitch. It made a lovely bolero look in front and an even nicer shawl look in the back.

She wears this every Friday (Red White & Blue Day at her school), and the design holds up well to active playground wear-and-tear. The "tuxedo" look that I was hesitant about is very pretty in real life. Once again, going with her "trust me Mom, it`s the look I want on this" turned out to be a good idea.

The yarn was a fine weight angora, so I should never have bothered with the eyelets, but I did; they don`t actually slow the knitting down much, and the pattern is easy enough to memorize, but they are nearly totally obscured by the yarn`s texture, so, in retrospect, I might go with my original hunch of not bothering with fancy stitchwork when the yarn is fuzzier than Santa`s beard.

Congrats on K walking... (today the living room, tomorrow the dance floor or the balance beam or the soccer field!)

(Sorry I didn`t respond earlier... haven`t had time to get on the computer all week.)

Thanks for letting me in on the bolero info. I saw a shrug/bolero kind of a mix between the two, at a store and I thought that it would be great in BC.

I`m currently working on DD`s cardi and I just finished the sleeves. However I casted on the front as well as the back and sleeves all at the same time so I dont have to go back and pick it all up when its all said and done. I`m hoping to make some significant progress on the rest of the body of the cardi tonight.

Ill post pics and how I did it when I`m done.

Now for the major decisions....is in a basic st st and I`m wondering if I should do a crocheted shell edge or a 1x1 rib? I just cant decide but I`m leaning on the crocheted shell.
