My forest green Brilla arrived just arrived - and it`s the exact shade and sheen of the model`s dress in Dante Gabriel Rossetti`s "La Ghirlandata". I love it so much - I`m going to be SOOO pre-Raphaelite!!

I`ve been too busy ripping up carpets and putting down new floors to clean this week - now the house is a sty. I`m not allowing myself to swatch it, or even dream lovingly of the White Lies Heirloom jacket until the whole house is spruced up! I wasn`t motivated at all before - but now all that will be visible is a turbo charged vacuum cleaner, with a carrot-topped velvet blur in its wake!! LOL

First off, you probably need to put that picture in bio section!

Secondly, are you a fan of his poetry, too? I`ve loved the poems and paintings of Rossetti for decades... he communicates from some universal river of the soul that few have dipped into but everyone can recognize!

Now you know you will just HAVE to post a picture of you wearing the final product!

I tend to live in my own little Victorian world anyway, and I`m a complete pre-Raphaelite junkie, MacChick! I even did my final dissertation at university on the movement. I especially love Rossetti`s paintings and poetry, William Morris` designs (I`ve even done one of his tapestries), and most of all Christina Rossetti`s poetry. I`ve been lucky enough to see a good many of DG`s paintings in Oxford and at the Tate Gallery in London - just breathtaking!

Would a picture like that be allowed on the Biography Channel, I wonder?

The jacket will probably take so long that I will have to take a photo wearing it just to record the accomplishment for posterity!

Eileen.

PS Isn`t it the most gorgeous green though! I was just itching to get my hands on it - so much so that I have cleaned the kitchen, dining room, living room, stairs and hallway, both bathrooms, our bedroom, and I`m kind of doing the computer room between surfing sessions. In fact, ironically, the only room that didn`t get done was my yarn/sewing room - only because it`s still just a we-only-moved-in-this-is-where-everything-we-have-no-other-place-for-gets-dumped room! DH will probably come home from work, not recognise the place, and leave thinking he`s at the wrong house! LOL

Now, just have to swiffer this floor and I can swatch my gorgeouis yarn.....

Does this mean that if I buy you some REALLY delicious yarn and hide it under some mess at my house I will get the whole place cleaned?

Okay Eileen, knock it off unless you are prepared to come to our houses and clean too! Just when I was ready to get a tattoo like that sign Knitnut talked about that says "knit forever, housework whenever" you come along and clean like a maniac. Now my dust bunnies are no longer cute pets but terrible monsters the must be dealt with. lol

LOL Sorry!

I`m NOT all that disciplined, and housework is an anathema to me - which would be fine, but I also hate clutter and like tidiness, which would be fine but I`m very disorganised and a terrible procrastinator, which would be fine but I`m a real perfectionist.

You see my dilemma, my multiple traits pull me in all directions! BUT, I am quite good at saving up treats for myself, and not really enjoying them until everything unpleasant is out of the way - so I was able to make myself clean that way.

But believe me, whenever I am finally able to work - the first thing I`m going to do is spread the wealth by having someone else come in and do it! LOL

I have just started my first project with the HW. This is the best yarn ever!!!!! It is so soft that it is just sliding off the needles! I can`t imagine ever using anything else ever again.
