Your Casual Cables looks lovely - and it might just be me, but does this photo have a "Fantasia" aspect to it? Doesn`t it look like it`s trying to knit itself with it`s wee arms??

Eileen.

Well, it is SUPPOSED to knit itself whenever I`m not working on it, but either it`s confused or just being defiant, because whenever I go back to work on it, it hasn`t accomplished a darn thing!

Oh, it plays with the yarn balls like some mischievous kitten overdosing on catnip. And it flings point protectors all over the room like a little boy with a superball. It even tucks its arms shyly up into its yoke and bats its yarn tails like a little flirt. But it refuses... flat-out REFUSES to knit a single stitch! I`ve even tried threatening to rip it out again... all it did was click its circs at me, "tsk, tsk," as if to remind me that threats are never a prudent strategy.

But just when I get really ticked off at this behavior, it curls up in my lap, nuzzles my hands and gives one of those deeply relaxed sighs that tells me it just loves being knit upon... I sing gently to it... "purl 2, knit one, yarn over, knit two together, knit 3, purl two, knit one, purl two..." and it falls asleep right there in mid-cable.

But yea, it is SUPPOSED to be knitting itself.

Maybe after it goes to my sister it`ll at least learn to wash itself, but somehow I doubt it. It`ll just play around, cuddle, and act all cute at her house, too.

Do your casual cable sweater has some patterns around the yoke? What kind of yarn ?

Yes, there are some leaf and diamond designs in purl stitches around the yoke, just simple things; they`ll look better after it`s been blocked. The cables have eyelets worked into alternating sides, and those are alternating with plain cables.

The yarn is the Peruvian Collection Pure Alpaca, in "Bisque" color.

I found a pattern that I thought you might be interested in. It is a Kids` "Chain Mail" Coif and Hauberk

I`m so glad to hear your voice again! (well, youknow, "virtually" hear it on the computer!) You have been away too long, girl! Get out your camera and show us what you`re knitting... well, I understand how it does little good to show a half-made lace item, because without blocking it, you can`t really see the lace pattern anyway, but we cannot wait to see your shawl when you are finished!!!!

Gorgeous MacChick and Ann! If creativity glowed in the dark, a night flyover of your house with an infrared camera would look like Manhattan at night.:-}

And yes, Shui Kuen, we`re all on pins and needles, so to speak, to see your latest exquisite lace creation.

MacChick,

I was amazed at the gorgeous poncho you made. My girlfriends and I from work were talking about how popular ponchos are right now how they are mostly designed for the younger people and they are not very warm but I had to tell them of all of the wonderful things that you design and knit. I told them that you could make them any way and length and size and color and warmth that your little heart desired.

I`ll show the poncho as soon as I can get the digital camera away from DH and have PLB model them both for me.

Cool! (Your DH probably needs to buy you your OWN digital camera... seems he always has it when you need it! LOL!)

Lovely. Perfect stitches, too - but you get them with any yarn...

Hey Michelle!

Who`s the lucky one that gets these? Are they Anne`s? They look terrific, did you get the motifs out of the surprise prezzie you got?
