Hey, all, my daughter really wants to join the fun (don`t call me a bad Mom for letting her stay up this late... she SHOULD have gone to sleep about three hours ago!), so the dela is... if she gets to leave a message, then she will go to bed!

How do two sweaters talk to each other?
Knit-location!

Little Jill Crocker
sat in her rocker
winding up yarn with care.
When the ball on her thumb
got as big as a plum,
she said, "Now that`s about 30 yards, there!"

Too quick for me! I`m a little slow - I didn`t get the play on words in the riddle. Help!

What a precious child you have! You are doing a great service to her by staying home to "raise" her and you will be paid 10 fold.

MacChick,

MacChicklet is obviously a very precocious child. All of the reading and time you spend with her is so beneficial to both of you. Patricia`s sentiments match mine. Like Les, it took me couple of reads to get the riddle. Okay, Les, we`re on the buddy system here, we can email each other to explain MacChicklet`s riddles to each other. lol

Good, you can both email it to me, because i still don`t get it, either... some wordplay on the "echo-location" that bats use...

She`s getting to stay up so late because it`s dance recital week... she has a dress rehersal tonight and performances the next two nights, so I eased her over to a later schedule... otherwise she would`ve been a dragging little bugaboo by performance time.

Yes, I knw about naps... I don`t know how to get her to actually take one, but I`ve heard wonderful rumors about them.

She took one for a wole fifteen minutes once when she was about a month old. DH and I were high-fiving each other and doin` the happy dance and saying, "Man, if we could get her to do this EVERY DAY... just imagine!!!!" But she never did it again. Unless I was holding her and singing to her. Every second. Some things never change.

So she is getting to stay up late, and she is making up jokes that I don`t really get... but what the heck. She`s been wanting to post a message since last winter. She`s got a half dozen more knitting rhymes for you guys, too, but I`ll space those out. (My favorite is her version of "Hush Litte Baby.")

MacChick, that is so funny, I guess I didn`t get it either because I thought it was a play of "elocution."
Ha, MachChicklet has us all fooled. ;-}

Hey-after your echo-location explanation (ah, NOW it makes sense) I`ve come to the conclusion that even tho 4 year olds generally struggle with jokes because they are learning about humor, Chicklet seems to be a pretty smart cookie-if you think about the concept behind her joke, she was actually pretty sophisticated! I think you have a junior brainiac there, Chickie!

Please pass to Chicklet:

How do you catch a unique rabbit?

You neek up on it!

ha ha!

Yeah, that`s pretty advanced joke-logic. I remember when my sisters were about that age (I`m 12/14 years older, so I remember it pretty clearly), EVERY punchline ended with "fart-face". And they thought this was the most hilarious thing that had ever been said.

So... Chicklet loved the bunny joke. I spontaneously busted up at the "fart-face," thought it was pretty hilarious, but Chicklet gave me the world`s longest silent stare, then told me she didn`t get that one.

Yea, I love the joke attempts at this age... they are half there...
