Have been unable to concentrate on my knitting lately, but today I seemed to get back in the groove, starting a new top for DD`s birthday, June 9. I know, I know, I`d better get in the wind! Maybe Bets`s post got me revved up again. Thanks Bets! Do any of the rest of you ever go through these spells? For me, nothing seemed to suit or there were so many possibilites it was impossible to choose.

Benne I have times when nothing I do works. I sit with tons of yarn and my mind races but my hands do nothing! It will pass then watch out, knitting needles will be flying. Have fun.

I`m in a mood like that right now. I have my yarn spread around in my knitting room trying to figure out my projects and not tackling any actual knitting. Its kind of a lull before the storm so to speak. I know around this time next week I`ll be happily knitting away again!!!!!! This has happened to me so many times over the years so I know the outcome. Usually I come up with a real satisfying project to end the "down time". Glad your back in the groove! HeatherL.

It happens to me a lot, B - sometimes I feel guilty and think "Can I really love knitting that much? Can I really call myself a true knitter?" because sometimes I will go weeks at a time without lifting needles. I`m not even overloading with thoughts of projects, I just can`t be bothered knitting, and don`t want to do it. But I always come back to it, so my philosophy now is that we get enough pressure to do this and that, without pressurising ourselves into enjoying a hobby! LOL If I`m not in the humour, I`m not in the humour - just one of those transient mysteries! Think about it, what else that you enjoy doing do you *always* feel like doing? Cooking, gardening, reading, Scrabble, etc., etc. - are you up for doing these things 24/7? NO! So why should knitting be any different! LOL We`re women - we reserve the right to be capricious creatures, so there!
Eileen.

ME TOO! I haven`t been able to read lately either and for me that is bad. Picked up Oprah`s new book club book "Anna Karenina", Tim Russerts book Big Russ and Me: Father and Son--Lessons of Life,The Knitters Book of Finishing Techniques Nancie M. Wiseman,Knitting from the Top by Barbara G. Walker and a couple of other books on Kosovo and I can not stay interested in any of them. I have not yet attempted to sew up my finished projects, the dust has turned to dirt everywhere in the house and I could probably knit a sweater from the dog hair that is on the carpet. I just sit and daydream most of the day. DGD#2 asked me if I was thinking about Paris, do not know where that came from. DH will be home in 9 days,and I really do need to get cracking on something! Spent the day yesterday playing tag, red light green light and swimming in a kiddy pool.Best day ever!!!!

Patricia,
Let`s not even talk about dog hair, with my two, DH suggested the other day that I start spinning it and knitting it up. And he was serious! I know some people do this but I think I need to work on my stash first. lol I think it`s very cool that DGD asked you if you were thinking of Paris, how romantic. Immediately thought of "Casablanca." Just think, she could have asked if you were thinking about the grocery or something mundane like that. I haven`t played red light green light in forever, it does sound like fun! Somethimes things just get unsettling when there are changes going on. Don`t worry, you`ll get an energy burst and anticipation of DH`s return, will help. You know, get more done under a deadline thing. Besides, you`ve got to sew up your coat so I can see it, I`m depending on you to guide me through the two I have to make for DD`s Christmas pressies. :-}

Patricia - Ooh, red-light green-light, double dutch and kick the can............. had lots of fun in the evenings playing those with the neighborhood kids of varying ages!! When you made you "not your mothers....." did you change the shape of the coat? I think one time you were thinking of doing that. Let me know how the fit is. Lucky you have the DGC for diversion! and with DH coming home a reason to get the dirt off the floor!! I hate housework!!! Les

Well, I`m so glad to hear I`m not the only one who goes through knitting slumps, now I can relate to Tiger Woods and his game. lol Sometimes I think I may make it too much like an obligation instead of a pleasure to knit, maybe I try to do to much or want to do too much. hmmmm, focus, focus, focus! This actually relates to Bets Christmas question and some of the answers too. I may streamline this year on who gets handknitted items or else make them smaller and do a couple of big ones. I feel better already. :-} Benne

No Les I didn`t change the shape of the coat, I used WB and a bulky Cherry Tree Hill and I am having a very hard time sewing it up due to the bulk, especially the sleeves. They just do not look right, I`ve sewn them in 3 times and have not been pleased with the way they look. Maybe 4 will be the magic number.

Benne this child is mystical! I love Paris, one of my favorite places in the world! I`ve bought everything Madeline for the girls and even bought them dresses from Paris. Sierra (DGD#2) knows that I love it there and she asked if I would take her there because she wants to see Madeline.I took high school french and say thing to her in french all the time and she giggles and says those words sound pretty. What a joy it is for me to look into her eyes and see the world differently.

Patricia,
What an intuitive child, how blessed you are to have her, and close by. Some children are just like that, old souls. Benne
