With the introduction of that little genius Bets bags, I`ve been thinking that those sample skeins would be good for making interesting bags with lots of texture and color. I have some lengths of Colinette Point Five in Scarlet Parrot left over from my "put on your sunglasses, that sweater is BRIGHT!" project that I think would be good for that purpose too. Bets has sure caused a run on Sonata Fiesta, seems like everybody got inspired with her great bags.

Hi Benne-

I am completely bagged out for a while (that and I am home couching it because an old root canal is going bad...) but I was surprised with the color mix on the Sonata...Fiesta was a lot softer than I expected, color-wise. I was expecting that Red Heart "screaming jester" color mix, and this was actually semi-mellow.

I think that Point 5 I had must have been Red Parrot, I was REALLY sad they sent me such a little scrap. I was wondering what would happen if you took a wool yarn, held it with a cotton, and then felted it, but that was an oddball speculation that I haven`t gotten around to testing yet.

I think using the sample skeins would be a good use...after all, Himalaya varies widely in color and gauge, and they say so in the description...which is what I was going for on the black one. Waiting to see what you come up with!

Bets,

Sorry about your root canal woes. I`ve got one that`s been hinky for the last 6 months. YUCK! Would it make your tooth feel better if I sent you some Red Parrot?

Bets - what was the name/brand of the tie dye kit you used on the positana? We have Wal-mart here but my DH won`t let me go there!!!! I`ll have to sneak in and look but maybe they have it a Michaels or somewhere. Actually, I gave my DD a kit a couple of years ago in her stocking and she hasn`t used it yet. maybe I could find it in her closet - second thought, maybe not!!
Sorry to hear about the root canal gone bad. I`d better get my appt made at the dentist to do a long awaited crown so as not to have to have a root canal.

Arggh!

Do NOT send me any yarn...I just ordered enough Saucy for Anouk (on knitty.com) for 2 baby dresses-one for DGD and another for a niece`s baby due in June. It will be fun to knit in REALLY intense "doesn`t have to go with anything in my closet" colors for the older one, and I`ll just quiet it down for the new baby. Searching for colors made me think that YELLOW is gonna be popular shortly...the older one will be bright sky blue, and the other will be a quieter lavendar blue-I wanted a light pretty yellow for the pockets, and there was NONE to be had anywhere! (I bought some of the colors with the thought of "sharing" between the two dresses, because there`s more than enough yarn to do two pairs of pockets, two flowers, etc.)

On the tie-dye kit...don`t you NEED to go to Walmart for Easter candy or something? My kit had 3 colors in it, cost about 10.00 and I got it in the craft section. It`s made for cotton fabrics-the only kit my podunk Walmart carries. I also used pipe cleaners to wire my hanks together.

Lastly, on evil dental surprises-they goofed up my root canal at the start, and I had it redone 2 years ago. Yesterday, it flared up, and now I have this blister pocket on the roof of my mouth that`s the size of Baltimore. The hard part is getting in somewhere to have it fixed...that accepts the insurance! This is like the world`s WORST sinus headache!

so sad-it`s gorgeous out, and I`m tethered!

Oh Bets, you have my heart felt sympathy for your bad tooth. Five years ago my old bridge flaired up and to cut a long story short I now have two implants! The only words of advise I have for you are ADVIL ADVIL AND MORE ADVIL (unless you have something alot stronger).

You really should be able to bask in your very well deserved glory for your FANTASTIC bags without pain.

Take care and I hope your dental woes are fixed soon.
