Okay, picture this, I MUST have the income taxes finished and to the CPA on Monday. It`s Thursday night and I have been working on the damn thing all week. DH comes home and says, "I have this new program that must be on the computer before Wednesday because we are getting satellite version DSL installed then. I say (in a perfectly reasonable voice) "Can`t it wait until I get through?" DH testily replies, "Oh, it`ll only take an hour." So I say "fine" and get up from the computer where I have ALL of 2003 checking, investment, and tax info. It only took an hour all right, an hour to completely wipe out ALL of my info! Then, because it also wiped out everything else, DH has to drive to Nashville, get disks from the office, do downloads from the internet, go to a computer store, etc. This takes approximately 8 more hours because the interstate is at a standstill for miles because of construction and blasting. I am at home, unable to do anything about this whole mess and unable to even log onto the internet and blow off steam with all of you. So I go outside and rake leaves out of my flowerbeds, prune the roses, take the dogs for a walk and try not to call a divorce lawyer immediately. When he finally got home, he had bought a NEW financial program which he promptly installed and I had to learn BEFORE I could start inputting info again. All I said to him in a very calm voice was, "This could not have come at a worse time." By the time he got through putting the computer back together again (imagine you just reformatted your hard drive and had to start from scratch), it was SATURDAY!!! I spent all day and night Saturday and all day today (I got up at 7AM and even missed Mass) until 6:30 PM getting all of the tax stuff done. I finally finished, poured myself a vodka tonic with a twist of lime and said,"I`m not hungry and I`m not cooking." He seemed very contrite and just a little bit worried that I could smell his fear. LOL (With a nod to Bets) Believe me, if I`d had that ax when I found out he`d wiped out all that info, it wouldn`t have been pretty. Patricia, now I really DO know what set Lizzie Borden off! LOL

This post may have saved the life of MY Dh, who has been cruising for a bruising these past 2 days....

Now, now, there is NO knitting stitch pattern called "man smacked over the head with a keyboard", so you must restrain yourself, and quit designing that family heritage afghan you were planning. Go buy some yarn, it will be very theraputic.

YES YOU ARE!!!!! And you have my sympathy completely regarding the taxes. I`ve got to finish our financials up by tomorrow to get to the CPA. That as well as kiddies school stuff, Cub Scouts (I`m in charge of the Camping trip on April 24th and we are having a pack meeting tonight), baseball, greenhouse work, etc, etc. Now where is that vodka?!

Okay, Benne, the silver lining...... you now have incredible vault of material to use to maintain your upper hand. This could be used for........ years, I`d say!!

Les, you are absolutely right! After my "I`m not cooking declaration" he fixed MY supper. He kept a very low profile all evening and was EXTREMELY nice. I think he read the Husband Handbook and decided he`d follow rule #1 which is, when you`ve screwed up bigtime, keep your head down and your mouth shut. LOL

Yes, poor baby, you can whine too. Isn`t that what we`re here for? I know you must be exhausted. Those long days make you tired all the way down to your bones. Can I offer you a little advice about this weekend? Under no circumstances let anyone, and I mean anyone, near the computer until you are through with the taxes. I suggest loud snarling and growling if anyone gets within a 6 foot perimeter. lol

You ALL need some serious yarn therapy. Let me repeat that:

YOU ALL NEED SERIOUS YARN THERAPY!!!

NOW!!!

Go buy some yarn for YOU... not for a project for anyone else, some yarn for YOU to wear on your body this summer. Bump all other projects aside and make a thing for YOU. I really mean it. It is the quickest end to a bad cycle, and thereby the cheapest way back to a good place.
