Patricia: It does look similar. It is my own design.

Shui Kuen,
How many days of chat messages do you have your browser set to automatically load? The default is set at 45 days, but nowadays that`s a *lot* of messages. There`s a box you can fill in with the number of days you`d like to have load - it`s at the top of the page when you first visit the Chat Center. I`ve got mine set now to load only 5 day`s worth of messages each time I hit the page, and it loads quite quickly. Anyone else?

On our old comp (with crappy memory) I had no trouble loading the page, but if I tried to reply to a message it would take about 1 minute for a word to type. And that was even with a fast connection. It was our comp and not the site, though.

Now we have a new super-high memory computer and an even faster connection, it all loads instantly - hooray! A good thing, when you consider how much time I spend in front of this fecking screen! LOL

Eileen.

Hey, that`s a great idea, resetting the number of days. I wonder why it never occurred to me to do that? I`m gonna do it right now!

Our connection speed is even slower than ordinary dial-up, because the phone lines in this area are ancient, bad, and noisy... disconnects happen alot because of this, too. We just always bring a secondary activity to the computer... something to do while waiting. For, me it`s knitting, of course!

I had my number of days set to 30 and changed it to 10 and it loaded a lot faster. My service is ISDN which is only slightly faster than dial-up. The price of living in the woods.

Yes, indeed! Thank you for helping the computer semi-literates out here. I was about to give up on the chat center, but with 5 days it is quite fast. Thanks again!
