I`d like to learn how to knit socks and learn best from books. Any suggestions on where to find a first sock pattern that will fit well and not be ugly (provided I follow the directions well)? Thanks!

Try Socks Soar on Two circular Needles by Cat Bordi.
I learned to knit socks from this book less than 6 months ago and am now designing my own socks. This book has progressively more complicated patterns all based on a 2 circular technique as opposed to DPNs. In my opinion it is the bees knees. I will never touch my DPNs again!
