Does anyone know if it is OK to knit and sew up a wool/nylon blend sweater before blocking? I am finishing up on a mostly stocking stitch sweater in Softwool. It seems that blocking in pieces take up so much room I would prefer to finish it first.

Hi Lillian-
One reason you block sweater pieces before you sewing them up is so that all the edge will line up and be the same length when you put them together. I often block as I go i.e. when I finish the front and back I block those then when I finish the sleeves I block those. My blocking board can only hold about 2 pieces at a time! I also block most of my garments by pinning them down and then spritzing them with water until they are just damp. It really doesn`t take long for them to dry.

Lillian, As a suggestion when you can, try knitting the sweater on circle needles. Yes, you will still have to block, but little sewing for the body. A plus!!! Very seldom do I sew side seams...
