Thanks Pat-

The pattern and yarn combo had such a high "spaghetti on the backside" factor, it`s all neatly wound and banished up in the yarn cave for now....it was awful. I cast something else on, so I have to finish that and stir this around in my head some more....

I was away last week and did not see your post. I make butterfly yarn bundle, a figure 8 weave between thumb and forefinger and I keep the line short so they don`t get tangled. I hope this is clear. I sometimes have to rebundle the yarn as it loosens but I`m use to it. I personally have never used the implements they sell for making these butterflys.
I like Alice`s advice to knit it sideways especially if it is just stripes and not a more intricate pattern.

PatQOC

Bets,

I looked up the Vogue magazine. It is the 1991 special collection Vogue. You are right, dirty blonde model with AV sweater in white on cover. It is a nice pattern once you get the hang of it, but it eats up a lot of yarn. Luckily I have 20sks of the sonata so it is a perfect pattern for this yarn that I have had for years in my stash.
PatQOC

Bri,

I agree with Bets. Crochet is very very natural if you knit continental. I have been crocheting before I started knitting and have crocheted: doiles, afghans, potholders, scarves but I never did a sweater. I reserve sweaters for knitting as I like that fabric better for sweaters. IMHO crocheting is much easier than knitting and it goes faster although now that I`m getting better at knitting, its about the same! LOL

Yes, Bets, I saw that news report. When I saw the shirt I was boiling mad. I wouldn`t use that shirt to polish my car. Or any other shirt they make. I remember the Chinese shirt. I could not figure out what they were trying to accomplish. Racism and prejudice are always ugly, no matter the form. I guess they figure the more offensive they are, the more junk they`ll sell. AF has been offending me for years and I have not stepped foot in their stores in at least ten years. I guess we`re not their target shopper Bets. Thank God. Good for Grandma setting a precedent and good for DD- buying her own clothes and recognizing a poor value. Family unity is a great thing.

I think it`s time for me to rip off another scathing email. I fired one off to HBO after watching 5 minutes (and turning off) of "Deadwood" Sunday night. I am not a prude but there was so much gratuitous filthy language that DH and I both were totally disgusted. Some things are just bad form and there`s a lot of that out there these days. Okay, I`ve had my morning vent, back to the important stuff, like knitting and finding that book for MacChick.:}
Benne

I took her grandmother in there, and she took one look at the posters of half-naked people dog-piled together and was shocked, so I announced to the whole family that Grandma is boycotting AF.
Thanks you guys...notice how I very carefully cropped that expanding waistline RIGHT OUT of that picture??? Tres clever.

My husband`s aunt has this thing in her family called "Cousin Day" where all the women get together and do crafts and scarf goodies. I want to do that. Since y`all are cousins I actually talk to, I think we should have a cousin day!

Yes Bets, I love your picture, I can see the gleam of humor in your eyes. You are the witty one! You`re going to have to produce your driver`s license to convine me you`re 44. Your sense of humor is keeping you young, and us too reading your posts. :}
Benne
