I looked up the Vogue magazine. It is the 1991 special collection Vogue. You are right, dirty blonde model with AV sweater in white on cover. It is a nice pattern once you get the hang of it, but it eats up a lot of yarn. Luckily I have 20sks of the sonata so it is a perfect pattern for this yarn that I have had for years in my stash.

The Fair Isle is for me.... Its the Color Your Own by Philosophers Wool in their book. A friend at knit night is lending me the book. I`m using HW instead of the PW yarn (mostly cuz that is what I had and need to destash).... the colors are: teal, antique blue, dark indigo heather, mid indigo heather, and forest glade heather. The main color is the dk indigo heather and the rest are for the fair isle patterns.

I`ll have to post a pic. I finished both sleeves and tonight I`m gonna cast on the body.

I agree with Bets. Crochet is very very natural if you knit continental. I have been crocheting before I started knitting and have crocheted: doiles, afghans, potholders, scarves but I never did a sweater. I reserve sweaters for knitting as I like that fabric better for sweaters. IMHO crocheting is much easier than knitting and it goes faster although now that I`m getting better at knitting, its about the same! The spray on color was something I picked up in the fabric painting section of Hobby Lobby. Like I said, I would not "adjust" expensive yarn with it, but this stuff was a gift from my dad, and I think dyeing it was a real improvement.

I knew how to crochet before I could knit, but I do think that if you knit continental, crocheting is almost natural. The hand movement is very similar.

P.S. On a side note. I did order the AV book from Herrschners and then after I place the order, I noticed that the ship to addy was to my old apt.
