I asked my husband about this last night and he thought that Michael`s Craft store may have it. I thought it would be a hardware store item...Anyway, the girls are off from school tomorrow so I`m taking them shopping. Hope to get this taken care of too. If you find it first, let me know and I`ll do the same. Have you done the lining? Is it a pain? How do you like the way your bag came out? I liked it so much I want to make 2 more as gifts. I did the knitting in 2 evenings.

Quick hint for the neckline: measure the width of the cable panel, work out how many stitches you need for THAT WIDTH in stocking stitch, and then decrease on the last row before the neck to reduce the cable panel stitches to that number.

Example: 20 stitches in cable panel = 3 inches
Gauge in StSt is 20st = 4inches
Reduce stitches to 15
*K2, K2tog* 5 times across the cable pattern

This will prevent your neckline from gaping.

Alice
Salt Spring Island

I am so excited! I am halfway through a cabled purse - pattern in Debbis Bliss Simply Soft book. It is so much fun to make and see the cables appear as the piece grows. My brain has now designed a simple sweater with a center cable running up the front - BUT how do I execute this? Blue Sky Alpaca had an add with a gal wearing a cream colored vest with a large horseshoe cable on the front. Is it possible to design my own? How do you plan for the neckline? How do you center and frame the cable?
