Thanks,

I`ll have to see what I have. However, my DD says I shouldn`t start another project until I finish the afghan (started when she was 2.5 and she turns 13 this weekend). I think that is a good idea, but I need a portable project.

My DD`s project is on my short 6 circs. I`ll have to start it on the longer needles, buy some more needles, or keep knitting the endless afghan.

Carol

Hi Carol,
I am doing 12 repeats on size US6`s. I`ve only got 2 more rows of edging left to do as well as the bind-off. I have used 6 skeins/balls of BS. Hope this helps.

Denise

Thanks Alice,
I will remember that when I get around to binding off. One more question, what pattern does the edging have? I can`t seem to get anykind of a pattern...I got 5 rows of edging and ended up frogging it.

Denise

The cast-off in the pattern is a *knit 2 together*, rather than *knit 2, pass the first stitch over the second*. I was careful to make sure that after I knitted two together, I pulled the yarn through until I had a stitch 1/2 inch long on the right needle, then transferred it back to the left needle. Then I repeated that over, and over, and over. It took me the whole of a `Frost` mystery on PBS to complete the cast-off, but it looks good.

Alice
Salt Spring Island

Denise, look at the instructions for the cast off-she has us casting off in a different way. It works, but it`s just a little different.

I can`t wait to see your shawl! I knew you could do it!

B

Hi Denise

You need to keep the K3 on both edges. I`ve just read over the written instructions, and yes, `end K3` has been left out for the edging. Now that I look at the charts again, they should read `begin and end shawl here`.
The cast-off works well but keep it very loose. I drew out the 2 stitches for K2tog to 1/2 inch each before knitting them together.
Mine, in BS, is going to take some strenuous blocking, but it`s really going to be pretty. Maybe there`ll be a few cooler days in Singapore, but I expect DD will wear it indoors in the AC climate.

Alice
Salt Spring Island

Well, I Finally got to the Edging (YIPEE). On row one, I see where I am supposed to keep the K3 on one edge, but on the other edge it is k1, yo, k1. Am I reading this correct? I`ve gotten too far on this thing to mess it up now. I did put a life line in, just in case.

Thanks guys for your your help
Denise

The pattern seems pretty straight forward BUT I do not understand the very beginning of it. You cast 3 stitches on provisionally and then knit 14 row of 3 stitches - am I correct so far? Then it says to "knit up" 1 stitch from each garter ridge - should be 7 stitches. What does "knit up" mean. Is this on the side of the 14 row strip you just made?
