for sure, I can say one will be more happy to put on a handmade apparel than a one picked from a store. how much time did it take, Doreen. recently I tried making a flower basket with the help of tips shared online. though I couldn't come up with a proper shape in couple of my initial tries, but later yes it came out good. as it was my plan to give it to my niece on my brother's wedding and it being our loving niece's selection from this http://www.affordableflowergirldresses.com/accessories/flower-girl-baskets.html]flower girl baskets store I had to try again and again without giving up. cool that, she liked it and the pain that I took in making it ,is no way bothering me now. and the moment I gave it to her, she started telling it to all her friends that its not a ready made but a handmade.

Yes, yes Doreen, absolutely stunning shawl and great photography to show it off to best advantage! I just completed my FB shawl last week in the cornflower BS, too and found it an exhilarating experience, one of the few times in my knitting when the product was worth the intense concentration. I`m planning on posting a pic of mine too as soon as my favorite photographer (DS) gets back from spring break. Did you find it amazing how much yarn got eaten up as you progressed? I used about an entire ball just for the edging!
Are you planning another one? I bought some more BS in my favorite colors as my FB was progressing, and then sprang for the gentle violet, after it was blocked and seeing the nice outcome. I think these would be great for gifts. For now, I`m taking a break and doing a simple poncho!
Sandra

It`s especially amazing to knitters like myself who just have not gotten to that point yet. As I rush through my day and come here now and again for respite, I am just amazed by what I see in the peeks, and especially the fine lacework. (Oh, and I also loved Scully`s Gold lame Chewbacca!)

That is a lovely shawl. Everyone here has been talking about it, and I am glad to see how beautiful it is. And it is nice to know that it doesn`t take a great deal of yarn. You should be very proud of your knitting skills.

Of course you got many compliments - it is a great project! You did a wonderful job and made an excellent yarn choice. The pattern is a wonderful one - all the different versions I have seen here & on blogs are so attractive. My BS is waiting for me to get started on mine but I don`t know when that will be. So many projects, so little time!
Cate

Thank you, thank you for all your compliments. This is the first time I posted a photo at this chat site. Couldn`t believe myself that I got so many compliments.

For the questions on the needle size, it is knitted with size 4.5mm circular needle. I used about 3.5 balls of peruvian baby silk. Towards the end, more yarn needed as I add on 3 more repeats compared to the original pattern of 7 repeats.

You all should try it as this baby silk is really very soft. Oh yes, this is for myself as this is my first shawl.

Thanks again for the compliments
