TRanks for the idea Alice. I got hooked on Elann when the Puzzle was up last year, and finally got my lace socks finished, but was wondering what to do with the bit left. I love the idea of finishing off with a matching plain color. Daryl

Hi Joan
For fancy scarves, look at the Cliche that went up last week and is coming again on Monday. Baby Cashmere is another thought. Or, you could make matching socks and scarves!

Alice
Salt Spring Island

Hi Alice! It is great hearing from other sock knitters for the SITM sock yarn. Having knit in Opals and Lorna Laces, it is sooooooo nice to find a more "affordable" yarn. I am knitting 3 pairs of "lace" socks out of Lorna Laces for birthday gifts, but really like just PLAIN SOCK KNITTING, and am thrilled to have found Elann for my sockyarn needs. There are many, many expensive yarns out there and if you are like me, and want to give to lots of people, it is so nice to have prices where I can afford to give more.

People love receiving socks. They all wear them and sock are fun to do and they are easy to take with you.

I might like to try a scarf or two this next year, and don`t know what yarn to try for that, but there is time.

Hugs, Joan

My dad has started wearing pink shirts in the past few years. This is the same man who made fun of every other man who wore pink. And he now plays hide & seek in the house with the grand kids-he would have never done that when I was a kid!

Sock It To Me is comforting to the feet and wears well. Start knitting socks now! Everyone will covet a pair by next Christmas.
Hint: If you are knitting for mid-sized feet (not size 13 shoes), you will have part of each ball left over, but despair not. Order some of the plain colours Tuesday week to match the patterned yarn leftovers - knit the ribbing and about another inch in the plain, switch to the patterned yarn until you get to the heel, knit the heel plain, then continue with the patterned until it runs out, finish in plain. These will become favourites. DH has a pair with bright red plain, which he thinks are just wonderful, and insists that the wilder the better. This is from a man who only wore dark blue, beige, or grey socks with grey flannel pants before he retired.

Alice
Salt Spring Island

Hi Kim, The Sock It To Me yarn will wear much better than the BC cashmere for socks. I have a friend who made a beautiful pair of socks from silk-wool yarn and before very long, they had a hole from the big toe. Heels also will suffer unless you reinforce the fragile yarn with nylon or some stronger fiber. The color of the SITM yarn are really great! The BC is wonderful for luxurious scarves, hand warmers or sweaters! Happy knitting, Jamie

I`ve not used the BC but all of my now numerous projects with Sock It to Me have been fantastic. They`ve knit up well and withstood wash and wear, in terms of color and shape. All the recipient of Sock It socks have marveled at the color and designs of the colori and harlequin. I am waiting with baited breath for this week`s purchase, in case you can`t tell!! LOL Bri

Now that I have learned socks I think they may be a good gift for next Christmas. Would anyone recommend the BC or Sock it to me yarns? Both have some pretty neutral colors and seem a little softer than what I am using now.

Kim
