I downloaded the pdf file from the moebius book and have skimmed through it. It has pics of all of the projects and a teaser of the text! When you do the first row of the moebius, things are just a "tad" tight! she suggested that if you have the Denise type needles, you could put on a smaller needle tip on the right hand needle to make that first row less of a fight. good idea! wish I had some of those needles!
Les

I went to her website that Heather posted the other day and the books are beautiful. I want magic boots and the book for young people! Maybe when Ann gets the book back I`ll order it. I dithered too long and missed it this time. I`d like to look at the Debbie New book too. I hear it`s beautiful.
Benne

Hi
Knitting a moebius is definitely an `act of faith`, but amazingly, a shape comes through. I knitted more than a dozen in two months when I unexpectedly had to teach the retreat last year. Plus a number of false starts, practice cast-ons, and samples to show `work in progress`. I found that I had much better control of the `shape` if I used an invisible cast-on in the centre. I tried grafting stitches together on a metallic one after I manually put in the twist - I had nightmares about little copper stitches slipping away to hide had I had that one done.

For those of you knitting moebius scarves, you can make a point to fill in a V-neck by short-rowing on a third to half of the stitches after you have reached the desired width for the part to go behind your neck. This look good worn on a plain dress or sweater, too.
Have a look at the new book, Unexpected Knitting, by Debbie New for some more ideas of what you can do with shapes. Tour cats would just love a knitted conch shell to play with.

Alice
Salt Spring Island

Another funny coincidence - she is a "featured artist" at a LYS & I just spent some of this evening chatting with her. She is a delightful person and very, very creative. I bought the book and am attempting my first moebius scarf. A lot of faith is going into this because its pretty hard to see the outcome, but it appears I`ve got it right so far. Her book is outstanding and very clearly written - a winner! It isn`t like anything else I have in my collection, lots of unusual and unique designs.

One of the employees brought in her cat Murphy who absolutely loved the Fringed Moebius Bowl and modeled the Beaded Tresses Hat, albeit somewhat reluctantly. Cat loves cats (of course!) and snapped dozens of pictures. Murphy may be a guest star someday on her website...

Melanie
