Maybe since they keep finding bombs and guns, they are starting to realize that knitting needles are not their biggest security problem... and maybe even that ladies with knitting needles who also have yarn may be intending to actually just... I dunno... knit?

I`m so glad to hear you didn`t have any trouble with your needles. I`m going to the Maryland Wool Festival to meet up with Eileen and Theresa (I`m going to Maryland, I`m going to Maryland, I`m so excited!) I have threatened insurrection if anybody makes a move towards my needles and as I told Theresa, if they take my needles, I`m going to demand that everyone else give up all their pens and pencils. DH swears he will go my bail. lol
Benne

Many thanks to all regarding your input about knitting needles on airplanes. My trip was a smashing knitting success on many counts!
1) No one even opened my carry on bag, or said a word about my knitting needles (America West Airlines) I wound up bringing metal needles, unable to get plastic at the last minute. I decided to pack the back which was already in progress and begin the front on the plane, so if they took my needles, I didn`t have any stitches to pick up. Happily, I was able to knit in peace for 4 hours, yeah! Plus, I really lucked out because no one was in the middle seat next to me, so I didn`t have to worry about poking them.
2) I made a new knitter. I taught a 9 year old how to knit and she picked up amazingly fast. However her mom thought she was still in the stage of needles as potential weapons against her 8 year old brother, so we parted company without her having needles til she`s older.
3) I met a fabulous lady getting back into knitting, and passed on Elann as a great source for knitting supplies and a great place to chat with a wonderful bunch of people. Hello Marilyn, are you there?
Thanks to all!
Bella
