I saw a Mobius scarf pattern in the paper some time ago and it had an I-cord edge that was worked as you knitted. I cannot find out how you work that.do you know of any one who could tell me how this is done.

Hi Ann

If it is a true moebius (cast-on in the middle and knitted out to the edges in both directions at the same time (figure-8 style on a long circular needle), then the last row will provide you with live stitches for the whole continuous edge. Then, with a shorter needle, you would cast on 3 or 4 stitches with the attached yarn and knit attached I-cord all along the edge, knitting together the last I-cord stitch and the next live stitch from the long needle on each round. This makes a very neat edge.

Any edging that is knit back and forth on the short dimension can be attached in the same way - just knit together the last edging stitch with the next live stitch, and then slip the first stitch on the next row (travelling towards the outer edge).

The bottom row of the cast-on gives you the stitches for the other half of the moebius. The total number gives you a figure 8. Mark the beginning of the row and knit around both loops until you get back to the marker - one complete row. When you are ready to cast-off, just continue around a whole row.

Cut a strip of paper, tape it into the moebius shape, and set it in front of you when you are knitting. Really helps in visualizing what you are doing.
