Well, I took the plunge and bought the Flora Sparkle Cotton yarn - can`t wait to see what it looks like! I was asking Maryann (lotusblossom) about the fibre content of her merino/silk yarn, and she said she thought it was about 50%/50%, which led me to wonder something else. Does the yarn come with fibre content, gauge per 4", needle and hook size and washing instructions? (Has anyone used the merino/silk, by the way - very interested in it maybe for a Christmas present for someone, but am cautious because of the price).

I can`t take credit for the phrase, I`ve read it somewhere. But it always stuck with me. I like the 2 hobby solution, knitting and collecting. My guy builds furniture so he collects tools and buys beautiful wood. We are like Tam (and I`m sure many others) live simply, so one can live richly.

Well... priorities are important. We drive very modest cars, live in a modest house and shop at Walmart most of the time. That frees up our income to be spent on what is REALLY important- OUR HOBBIES!! Oh, yeah. We do buy food for our 4 children as well.

Hey Scullyknits, I made the mistake of telling my husband about SABLE. He thought it was a riot, but when he gets home and looks, he may not think it so humorous! Thanks! Nancy

Bwahahaha! That`s a new one to me. ;-) I reached that level already myself...and your point is? I tell my hubby that I have two hobbies- knitting and collecting yarn. There is no expectation that I have to knit it all up in my lifetime. Whatever I don`t get to is designated "part of the collection". haha it works for me. Of course, it helps a lot that hubby builds R/C airplanes (a shockingly expensive hobby) and has long, long ago reached the SABLE level on that. He NEVER says a word to me about my yarn spending because I can spend $50 on yarn and be thrilled whereas to get ANYTHING for his hobby he has to spend $300. I don`t gripe at him about his hobby, he doesn`t gripe at me about mine and all is bliss!
