When I teach new knitters I always tell them that learning to read patterns is the hardest part of knitting!
I am really not sure what they mean by the center two stitches aren`t in the chart. That is crazy! Is it possible that they meant that the 2 new edge stitches are not in the chart? From what you have described I would be inclined to center the chart on the work and work the first and last stitch of the row in your original color or in the color of the first and last stitch of the chart. Since you will be seaming it together when you are done it is likely that those two edge stitches will not show once seamed.

If so let me know.]]> Sun, 23 Mar 2003 10:05:23 GMT http://www.elann.com/Commerce.web/forums/messages.aspx?TopicID=133045 i am working on the left front. instructions are fine, casting on 25, then increasing 2 at the last row of ribbing. then working into position to begin color chart. but NOW, it says...`Note: center 2 sts are not shown on chart`. i worked it up and indeed have 2 stitches extra and of course the pattern does not match up. what do i do? why are 2 stitches not shown? is there a reason for this? it is a cardigan with zippered front.
