Browsing on Thorny Acacia Tree, Long leg, Long neck – Spotted Giraffe.
While the Hexagon (also known as Honeycomb) pattern looks like complicated intarsia, it is actually as easy as knitting stripes! Only one color is used at a time, with the design achieved by slipping stitches from the previous round’s color. The slip stitches are slipped in pairs over 6 rows, but as they are the same two stitches and not elongated, they contract the fabric into hexagonal shapes. Two different-color yarns of similar ply are used in this sample. Available at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spotted-giraffe-cowl.
