Bluebell Dress

Contest Entry: 2012 09 - Designer of the Month

Knitter/Crocheter: CherishedKnits
Gauge: DK / 8 Ply
Project Type: Dresses
Project For: Children
Yarn Used: Sonata Soft
Pattern Used: My own, original design

This summer dress is knit in Sonata for a six year old girl. She was eager to wear it right away. It is designed to be close fit. I've decided to rearrange the flowers and finish armholes with crochet edges to add stability since they stretched a bit with wear because of the heaviness of the fabric. The fabric is durable, which makes it a good choice for an active child or for everyday wear.

Another stunning dress! I'd love to know what stitch you used in the stripes. I can't get a zoom in close enough to see the details. It looks very impressive

It's a drop-stitch technique from "A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns" by Barbara G. Walker.
A pattern name is "Holiday Stripes" (p. 56). It is shown in two colours. I've used three colours instead to add some playfulness.
