The knitted farmyard is created from a mixture of knitting and crochet, although all the main pieces are knitted. The base is the size of a small rug, and would be ideal for a playroom or bedroom for children, especially if the family figures and farm animals are tucked into their buildings. This book has detailed instructions and many color photos of the farm landscape-rug, barn, house, church, and other village buildings, along with adult, child, baby, and animal figures. The amounts of the materials needed for each piece are quite small. Oddments of knitting yarn, rug canvas, embroidery thread, synthetic padding, and pipe cleaners are the main materials used. With instructions for trees, flowers, crops, a dog, cows, ducks, a pony, rabbit, donkey, and more, it is possible to create an endless variety of scenes and stories.
