The Sun Ray motif is a modified Ivy pattern from Barbara Walker’s “Charted Knitting Designs, a Third Treasury of Knitting patterns” (p.154). Ivy pattern has a 10 row repeat and Sun Ray pattern has a 20 row repeat – all even number rows (wrong side return rows) are purled. The basic structure of the shawl is very simple.
