Mitered Rectangles Throw, designed by Melissa Leapman, is much easier to knit than it appears. Mitered rectangles (also known as 'domino knitting') give you the opportunity to coordinate two (or four, if you wish) colors into a gorgeous afghan. It is worked all in one piece, with stitches always picked up from an already worked rectangle, so there is minimal finishing. Suitable for intermediate knitters, the throw measures 52" wide by 70" long, and uses 4 balls each of 2 colors of Filtweed (55% wool/ 40% acrylic/ 5% viscose rayon – aran weight – 18 st/4" – 681 yards per 250g ball) or 2724 yards each of 2 colors of substitute yarn of similar gauge and weight.
