Alice - About June Retreat
|
Barbara, I`m sending you ane-mail off-list with specifics. For others, I still have space in the June 12-19th retreat both single room and sharing the loft (up to 4 people who know each other). Second one June 22-29th has only the possibility of one bed in the loft sharing with Elannites (can be riotous) or sleeping at my house.
Theme is Modular Knitting. Cost is $900 for new attendees and $800 for those who have been before - all-inclusive tuition, food, lodging, etc from arrival on Salt Spring to departure.

It`s an ALPACA bag sale!

Didn`t get back from curling until the 2:15 ferry but managed to get 2 bags of Garnet, 1 of Thistle, 1 of Hyacinth, and 2 of Plum Heather. No resistance at all. I knitted my sister-in-law`s model for the Scotland retreat in black with lavender and off-white in this yarn and it looked wonderful - some of you have seen it. She finds it a little warm for this climate- but then she wears a coat/jacket and I don`t, so I`m going to enjoy! It is going to be a big box, isn`t it? Maybe I can get Mark to go somewhere on Thursday. Once it`s in the house, he won`t notice.

Ok Ladies, Whats on the needles?
|
Just finishing Norah Gaughan`s Spiral Scarf. It`s knitted in decreasing sized hexagons - first is 22 stitches on each side, last is 8. They are not knitted in a straight line, but one side off from straight, so the whole thing spirals.
Finished the Triangle Scarf based on fractals (from the Sierpinski Triangle) from the same book - Knitting Nature. This is a very pretty scarf and not nearly as complicated as it sounds.
These are to inspire those coming in June to soar to new shapes.
My bagged Alpaca arrived yesterday, so time to start something new!

Are you having the log building delivered upright? or taken apart into pieces? We moved an old log house in Ontario (1840) and joined it onto our existing (1820) one. The Matthews Bros. moved it upright but across a county boundary - 7 permits to move it 5 miles (2 detachments of OPPolice, Ontario Hydro, Bell Telephone, CPRail, Ontario Highways, Albion Township). The only people who did not want to sell me a permit were the officials in Adjala Township where it started life - they didn`t have a form for moving houses. It was an adventure! Have courage! ! !
Really hope to see you next year.

Try operating your mouse with your left hand. Mark is left-handed, the rest of us are right-handed but we are all left-handed mouse users from the long ago days when we shared one computer. You may find it a little awkward at first, but your left hand will soon develop the right muscles for daintily pushing those buttons.
