blocking question I do it the way you do Libby. Unless you are trying to see how much it would shrink for felting. But don`t go by me.

The saga continues - 3 more baby ducks today! ohhhhhhh we are hip deep in babies:) I feel like we should be knitting something for Benne`s brood. Or maybe for the mamma ducky, who must be quite worn out by now.

We shoo the Mamma ducks out of the yard, because of cats. But there is a pond in the neighborhood so I get to see the babies swimming around. To be honest most people just don`t want the Ducks in their yards because of the mess. I love the babies, but the feral cats can clean out a nest in no time at all. :( The Raccoons do their share of damage too :(

Easy Raglan Shrug Pattern It looks adorable on Annie. She is a great model. Pattern is easy to understand, I have to print it out. Thanks Michelle

Mother`s Day Sweater Pattern I suppose we could cut up swatches. But sharp things near my knitting make me do the deer in the headlights thing.

Mother`s Day Sweater/Pullover I was looking a the back pic of this beautiful sweater. And thinking, mmmm that would make a beautiful pullover. I like the collar from the back. Maybe all lace sleeves. :) something dark...just thinking

Pharao laceweight cotton-think summer shawls I tatted my sample :-D

Mother`s Day Sweater/Pullover It does look rather high, but remember this is the back of the sweater. I think if the neckline were where the bottom of the collar is in the picture it would be more wearable, well probably more comfortable. And then lace sleeves
Don`t you love how we are redesigning Michelle`s design Stick Out Tongue

You can`t tat Mohair I am not saying that no one can. Sure there is some mad woman out there doing it right now. But I sure as heck can`t. I am going to stick my head in a bucket of very cold water and count to 2000. Not to mention mohair makes my hands itch when knitting it.Wrapped around my hands for tatting.
rant over
idiot leaves the stage :-D

A Case of Spin-offs in Scotland good lord the shop owner is either very brave or very stupid. Alice Starmore is NOT someone I would care to annoy. I think she has an army of lawyers not to mention devoted fans that report every violation. And she is not afraid of taking legal action.
I agree about stealing people`s livelihoods. I can`t imagine doing all those cables on a frame.

You can`t tat Mohair ahh yes Lucy it is all your fault. I just tatted a small butterfly with the Pharoa. But then, I thought Benne would like a nice tatted butterfly. I looked in my sample bag to see if I had anything interesting. And saw the dark green mohair. Now that would make an interesting body, with the more lacy thread as the wings. Good in theory but it went horribly wrong :-D I haven;t given up.I am having a time out :-D
You can see some of my tatting

Sadly I gave most of it away and never took pictures. Tatted border would be beautiful. I have thought of putting tatted borders on sweaters. If you tat with wool it loses it stretch and gets a bit stiff. Which would keep the edges from curling up.
Sorry I don`t have any mohair, except for the wee sample. I got rid of what I did have.
oh, Lucy I have tatted spaghetti. But that involved a bunch of Irish tatters and a lot of beer. Stick Out Tongue

You can`t tat Mohair You knit the summer shawl and I will tat the edge for you. Really. Just pick out an edging you like. The Pharao tats up like size 20 thread.
We were asked to leave as we were disturbing the other customers. We were a bit noisy laughing so hard, and then we started slurping the sauce off the pasta to see who could tat it.:-D I blame the Irish :-D
Thank you for your kind words. I must say the state fair was a shocker. I was so excited. And when we went to the fair I couldn`t find it displayed anyplace. I thought they mustn`t think it is even good enough to stick in a back case. Rather downcast. Then my daughter led me to the Best in Show display (i sound like a prize winning cow) I just stood there with my mouth open. DD had to keep poking me. I truely could not believe it.
Benne I have a tatting book with the most beautiful butterflies, dragonflies and roses. They are made with Tapestry wool. The colors are so so beautiful. All the filled in parts are picots. The Alice Starmore designs of tatting. I will scan some of the pics and post the link so you can see. You would love them.
Thanks again

ps I love you Lucy :)

Tatting Pictures for Benne See how you like these. The patterns are Dutch, from a very badly translated book

All of the "filled in" parts are zillions of matching picots.
I have often wondered how they would look done with patterned sock yarn. I know the tapestry yarn she uses has been separated into strands.
Enjoy

You can`t tat Mohair Well Ethel dear, you should be warned I am a slow tatter. So when you figure out what you are knitting and which yarn you are using, and color. I can get started. Oh and about how wide the finished shawl will be. I enjoy tatting. But it is slow going. Not so much the tatting as me :) Once you decide which yarn you are going to use, I will send you some samples for you to choice from. It should be fun :) You can sew it on to the shawl after you are done..come on race you to the finish. ;)
It won`t be that fine, unless you are going to be knitting with sewing thread. The Pharho (sp?)tats at chunky size 20 I would guess. And you might not like how it looks with the knitting. It might be too stiff compared to the drap of the knitting. Which is why I will send you samples.

In defense of the restaurant, we were a bit noisy. Mostly laughing very loudly. Then our Irish friends starting singing..well you know how it goes. Someone at a neighboring table asked what we were doing. They got Lacemakers do it on pillows, but Tatters do it everyplace. Which for some reason set us off laughing again, and one of the gals slipped off her chair onto the floor. Who would have thunk Washington DC would be so stuffy :P

Tatting Pictures for Benne Well I have only tatted one of the butterflies and it was no where as nice as the pictures. Getting just the right colors in all the same size thread is a kicker.
How about dancing princesses for Annie?
http://www15.brinkster.com/lyricalarmy/dancingprincesses.jpg

These are tiny, done in tatting thread with seed beads. I made some for my great neice and put them on her coveralls. Sadly her parents have decided child rearing is not for them, so they had two more. And promply put them in child care as soon as possible. I am really to far away to make much difference in her life. But I try to send her girlie stuff. She is very frilly and her daycare requires she wears coveralls. So I doll them up a bit for her :)

Whoa---it`s complete!!! so beautiful Benne. The pattern the color really lovely.Usually the variegated colors detracts from the lace, but this time the colors seen to enhance the lace pattern. It does look like lily of the valley.
I never got the angora sweater either, did have the collar with the angora balls on the ends of the strings. Before your time Lucy :-D Think Happy Days
Ohhh a redhead should look grand in this, emerald earrings are always a nice touch :)

Roll call--what`s your oldest albatross/WIP Einstein coat. It needs sleeves. I tried it on and my DD said I looked like I was being swallowed by a big red box. I haven`t worked on it since last August. Shame cause the Brown Sheep yarn is a lovely red. And I have *eek* a whole cone of it. Before I found Elann.
The top down sweater needs sleeves. But no rush on that one. I work on it off and on. And I love the Celedon so much I know it will get finished, some day Big Grin

My Own Bitter Tears - Waaahhh! Oh Barbara that is just awful. I know you must be feeling terrible, all that work. And such a pretty pattern. I have no idea how to fix it. Except to try and wash it again, and see if that helps.
I will pass you the hankies. You can also have my stabbing stick. :)

Tatting Pictures for Benne Let me look in the IOLI handbook and see who teaches in Chicago. I know you have a few lace guilds. And there are a few learn to tat videos online.
I learned in our local recreation center. My Mom told me she wanted to learn to play the piano and to tat (not at the same time) before she died. They had tatting lessons so we went together. It was a lesson in how NOT to teach tatting. I learned after a long time, my Mom an ace quilter never did. I never learned to quilt. No patience. That was 20 years ago.
