Sweater part two
|
Thanks Size 6 for the ribbing and 8 for the body. I think I must knit a bit tight. I was worried that the cable would sag if the fabric was too loose, but 7 seemed a bit too firm. I used my Denise needles for the whole thing and the stitches just slid right along.

Jean, your sweater!!
|
Jean the sweater is just beautiful and it look fab on you. What a background. Now if you could just look like you had some inner pain, you would be right out of Vogue Knitting :-D You ruined the Vogue layout by smiling ;) The cable definition is perfect, no easy feat to show in these tiny pictures. May you always be this happy when you wear the sweater

Libby ~ Denise needles
|
I know what you mean Libby. The cables are just about the size of the needle. And I can see why the needles aren`t made in the smaller sizes. I find the size 5 is really fiddly to work with unless it is a very slippery yarn. The last time I tried I quickly switched over to my INOX needles. It is a shame, cause I really like the Denise needles. I like the option of taking the needle off putting on the end caps then coming back later and the stitches are all ready for you. Even better then using a yarn holder or stitch holder. And (for me) I have never dropped a stitch with the Denise needles. I think that is partly because of the needle and partly because of the thick tube. Size 6 and 7 are ok, I just needed to loosen my death grip on them.

sock yarn gauge
|
Hi All you Sock Queens
I got some Kroys to check out Alice`s pattern. The yarn calls for a size 3 needle. It seemed very very open when I did my gauge swatch. I am down to a size 1. Is this normal? And what about the Esprit yarn that calls for a size 7 needle? Does it knit up really thick with that large a needle? I want to do them on two circs but I can`t buy double of every size from 0-3 I guess what I am asking is what size needle do all of you use with sock yarn. Thanks for the imput Suzann

Summer 2005 IK arrived today
|
That is a nice pattern B. I love the look of the shrugs and boleros, but they really only look good over fitted clothes. My clothes tend to be t-shirts or looser tops. Not sure I have anything in the wardrobe that could be worn with a shrug. I need to go shopping :-D

"ciao" lol
taxes done. Allergies are in full bloom so no gardening just now. Except for directing DH what NOT to weed :-D I am trying to knit a sock. My DD is picking out sock yarn for me to knit for her. Such faith :-) I put in a few rows on my sweater. But it has been really warm here (80`s) and my hands got all hot and sticky. I hope your shop is busy busy busy. I could use a nice baked treat.

Benne: How are you?
|
I am really enjoying that book. It came at just the right time for me. Oh, Benne I was born and raised in New York City, but I eat chicken gizzards and livers. Just add a dash of hot sauce. So I must be a hick too. I have lived in the south so long I can hardly remember living anyplace else. We seem to be having a burst of cardinals this year. A pair is staking out one of the big forsythia bush. They certainly stand out against the yellow flowers.

sock yarn gauge
|
Thanks everyone for your help. I did some ebay hunting and my needles should be on the way. Alice I had wondered about the patterned yarns. I could imagine having strips that don`t match. Or just a bit out of step with each other. In the mean time I have finished one sock with dps.

Very sexy sock, Suzanne!
|
Thanks all :) It is nice and cushy. I was running out of yarn so it is a bit small. Notice there is only one sock :-D I only had one ball of the Knit picks Merino. Dk weight yarn on a size 2 needle makes for a pretty dense sock I am working on a pair now in proper sock yarn with 2 circs. This was done with dpn. I have one warm foot *lol*

Another place that has the free rewards is http://www.needleartsbookshop.com/home.html
Which is a shame, cause I really love her service. I learned long ago, from using free ecards to untick any boxes. Or you mail box would soon be full of junk. Really glad you are getting your money back Bri, enjoy the Baby Cashmere. Mine is waiting for the "right" project.
