Wow-Marta`s sandbagging! Thank you all for your kind words. You are really encouraging...It was easier than you are giving me credit for, since I used simple patterns and big needles. The yarns were gorgeous, and that made a big difference.
I`m hoping that my WIP will turn out OK, it would be an affront to the Baby Cashmere if it doesn`t. But even after that one is finished, I will still be playing catch up to my original Christmas list...I`ll try to post pics as things get done (no hoarding here, Bri, that would be nice...).

Marta

P.S.: Benne, I checked my notes on the hat and they more thourough than I remembered. Do you want them?

I`m just sayin`.... Jean, how true! I have looked at the works in the Archive - including yours - numerous times, and always feel inspired and pushed to try harder... As for the "models", awsome!

Help with moths Hi Rebecca,

I have just learned here about organic solutions I had never heard about, but for what it`s worth, my favorite all-purpose bug spray is SLA, which is made with pyrethrins (which are some plants` bug killers) and smells like cedar. It is also the only thing I know that kills spiders when they crawl over previously sprayed surfaces.
Good luck,
Marta

Wow-Marta`s sandbagging! Hi Annie,

I have seen "brioche" described on the net in several - similar - ways. I learned it many years ago from my aunts, who called it English Stitch. The way I do it is:

CO a multiple of 3 plus 2 for the edges. Both sides:
S1WYIF, *YO, S1 as if to purl, P2tog*, repeat* until one stitch is left, K1.

Hope this makes sense to you. I`m going to be away for about a week, but will be glad to clarify if needed when I come back.

Happy knitting,

Marta

Frustrated Libby,

So sorry to hear about your nasty surprise! I would say, follow the excellent advice already given here, and keep your spirits up. We are all rooting for you.

Wow-Marta`s sandbagging! Hi Jamie,

It does indeed look like a rib with a lot of volume to it. I haven`t seen EZ`s version, but mine is not complicated at all. See my answer to Annie. I`ll be glad to answer any further questions next week when I check back.

Happy knitting,

Marta

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHICKIE!! Happy Birthday! Almost too late, but we are on the same time zone, so I hope it still counts... Hope you had - are having - a very special day.

Marta

P.S.: DH and I just drove through Barstow on our way back from a visi to DD and DSIL in AZ (last minute change of itinerary because of the weather) and I kept thinking "MacChick, Chicklet and Gerlinde are somewhere around here"...wish there had been time to make any plans. Maybe next time...

Apologies to Marta No problem and thanks for sending them. Mail delivery has been so weird around here lately that if you had not "confessed", I would always think they had been lost in the mail...

Apologies to Marta None needed, but thanks anyway.
I`ve been scanning the site after a week-long absence, and WOW, your DGD is totally adorable, and has very intelligent eyes and a totally cute smile. Of course GM`s knitting deservedly shines on her...

Are our elannites in California safe ? Thanks for your concern, Benne. Northern CA has not been very affected this time, it has just rained and snowed a lot, but we need that for water in the summer. It`s Southern CA that has had the really bad stuff. I too hope that everyone here is OK.
