Dilema
|
Ah, the dilemma! Esprit is perfect for so many things, including kids clothing...Can I find the space for more boxes of yarn, and who am I kidding with so many projects in my head when so many others are still waiting and waiting?... Good luck, Libby - and wish me some, too!
Marta
P.S.: Oh, if it helps, Only has some wool in it, whereas Esprit is cotton...

Trying something new

That is on top of my list of new things to try. I cannot help hating dpns, even though they don`t intimidate me anymore...

It is in my plans, I love the fabric, although I have knitted mostly baby items so far and some headbands (very comfortable and soft). Intend to tackle socks (eventually) and mitts, too. I only have one picture of a baby sweater, which I am going to try to submit, but the first thing I knit in Esprit were the baby pants form Last Minute Gifts, and promptly had requests for several more, so you get the idea... Other very popular items were chemo caps I knitted my DH when he was undergoing treatment (very soft, stretchy, just warm enough). I already have some stashed, but those bags are tempting.

Bri, my photo of the baby sweater was submitted. Maybe it will show up in time for you to have a better idea of the texture before the sale tomorrow. It was worn by my DDGS#3 way beyond its "expiration date" - defined as the age bracket for which it was knitted (and he was not a small baby)... BTW, if you`d like to see a normal size picture, I`ll be glad to e-mail it to you.

Wasn`t it the Voyager Stole? Hope I`m not misleading you, but I`m sure someone will have the right one if it`s not.

I just saw my aunt on the evening news and it wasn`t good - OT

That is definitely not how you want to see anyone in the new, much less your dear elderly aunt! My best wishes and prayers for a complete recovery.

Oh, Marta, he`s HANDSOME!!!
|
Thanks, everybody. Yes, I think I have the most handsome grandkids in the world - don`t we all?! LOL That`s my DGS#3, and he is two and a half now!... Late in posting, am I not?...I don`t have the proper software to shrink the pictures (when I remember to take them) on my computer, and can only bug DH about it so much...Need to change that. The esprit sale was the impetus for this one, especially Bri`s questions - hope it helps.

Oh, Marta, he`s HANDSOME!!!

I`m very happy to have contributed to more elann sales...lol Jamie, when I made that sweater there was no Fourth of July colorway yet, but I liked the combination of a variegated blues the name of which I cannot remember with the solid navy and red, and that was the result...When the Fourth of July colourway came out I thought my life would have been easier if I had waited...lol My DGS was about eight months old in that picture, but the sweater was a size 4-6 months. It just shows how well esprit wears on children. Have fun knitting your little guy`s sweater!

Billie, sorry if my post was not clear. When I made that cardi there was no red, white and blue colorway available yet - actually, the variegated esprit offers were quite different form the more recent ones (and very pretty too, but I digress). I went back to my purchase records, and found that the variegated I used was called Nautical Blues (white and several shades of blue). I striped it with solid red, and used solid navy blue for all the edges. Clear as mud now? lol If you`d like a larger picture, I don`t mind e-mailing it to you. LMK.

You`re welcome, Jamie. That was a study in experimentation for me - first time knitting in the round from the bottom up, improvising as I went along, first time picking up stitches for the sleeves at the shoulder and knitting on dpns to the wrist - a lot of firsts, and luckily it turned out cute and useful for a long time. If you`d like a closer look, I can e-mail you the normal-sized picture. Let me know.
Happy knitting,
Marta
