Measuring Yarn & Blocking Pins - part 2 Marie, there is one item I can help you with...I bought my blocking pins - both quilting pins and some T-pins - at Michaels on Homestead Road (next door to PW). That`s probably the closest crafts/art supply store if you live in southern Sunnyvale. Near the intersection of El Camino and Sunnyvale Ave. (actually, on Murphy Ave.) there is a new, neat yarn store called Purlescence which I have yet to fully explore, but I am sure carries blocking pins. Their yarn selection looked wonderful inthe few minutes I spent there (will be back, of course). Oh, and in the shopping center across from Fremont High School there is another one called The Yarn Place.

Have fun exploring the neighborhood! At least when the rain gives us a break...

I found out that I`m a lousy knitter Very good suggestions above! It looks like you have several tricky things going on at once - dpns, splitting yarn, working in the round...that deck is stacked against you! Take a break and either try again, or take a different approach (like knitting flat and seaming), whichever makes your life easier.

As for Ravelry, it takes a lot of time to explore. I am in there somewhere, but rarely have time to do more than look at a pattern I am thinking about - haven`t even explored neighborhoods, or groups, or even friends! You are not alone...

Happy knitting,

Marta

Measuring Yarn & Blocking Pins - part 2 Marie, I share your frustration about phone books. The "local" one used to include Cupertino (which can be literally across the street) and Los Gatos and San Jose too, besides Los Altos (again, next door), Palo Alto, etc. That unfortunately changed years ago. Oh, the good old days...lol

Fremont High School is at the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Sunnyvale Saratoga Road. The small shopping center I was talking about is on the northeast corner of the intersection.
I also wonder if you know about JoAnn`s on Stevens Creek Blvd., near Valco.

We do have to planning a meeting. Right now I have an awful cold, but in the next couple of weeks will think of something...

Happy knitting,

Measuring Yarn & Blocking Pins - part 2 I`ll have to ask my DIL about the burritos. We like the food at La Fiesta and Fiesta del Mar (both on Vista St. in Mountain View, not far at all) but I have not tried their burritos...Will get back to you.

lurking a lot and want to part of the fun and friendship A big welcome! I am not always around, so to speak, but so glad to have found your note. This is an enormously talented and generous group, where I too find a lot of inspiration, knitting and otherwise.
Your last two projects are gorgeous and ambitious.
Looking forward to getting to know you better,

Marta

Totally OT-about your measuring cups--- I never got tupperware measuring cups, but still have my circa 1980 orange small bowls with lids and other assorted items - and yes, two orange le creuset pots from 25+ years ago (only color at the time, and it was called Flame...), still going strong. But my longest-lasting kitchen possession has to be a dessert-size red plastic plate that has been around for 35 years. I still use it just about every day in the kitchen. My daughter made me give her its mate when she got married...
