Sonata Question
|
Some of you - MacChick? - may may be able to share your experience with this yarn. Sonata seems perfect for summer/fall baby clothes, and I am also contemplating a baby blanket in Sonata, but I don`t want my DDIL to have to worry about pampering newborn`s clothes too much. So I made two swatches with Sonata, and threw one only in the washing machine (along with bed sheets, no gentle treatment...) and the other also in the dryer after washing. They both shrank a little in length, but were otherwise just fine!!! Was I just lucky, or can I expect this sort of behavior from Sonata on a regulas basis?
Input appreciated.

Sonata Question
|
Thank you for the quick answer, MacChick!
I should have clarified that my DDIL will not mistreat knits on purpose (she knitts, too) but I wanted to make sure this would not be an added burden. You put my concerns to rest...Now I`d better make sure I decide how much more I need to order before it disappears - even if I won`t get to it before I finish WIPs...
Thanks again,
Marta

Non-knitting good news to share

Congratulatuions, Bri! Hope your final decision does not turn out to be too difficult - although that falls in the "good problem" category...lol What are you going to knit to celebrate?

Who`s getting Tuesday`s yarn?

That cotton is calling me...perfect for summer tops! But how can I justify getting any more yarn when I have at least a year worth of projects stashed away?!(: What are you going to make with it?

Benne,
It looks like you are doing very well on stash-reducing! I have been knitting a moebius and hat for my mother out of last year`s BC (of course I got some more this year, too, as well as BS - all for good intended causes...)lol. I also hope to make her a cape before her birthday in early April. That would quickly free up some space! Beyond that, my current strategy is to not even look at the site on specially strong temptation days and hope that by the time I come back all my colors will be depleted. Strong will, huh? Keep your fingers crossed for me...
Happy knitting,
Marta

Duly noted, Eileen! Giving you a wide berth...lol
But just to clear any confusion, do you mean the 22nd or the 15th? Or aren`t you referring to the shiny stuff that is coming up?...

Bri,
I`m glad you had an easy decision. I keep having visions of all the things I COULD knit with that yarn - while my sober side keeps reminding me of ALL the others still waiting in several closets and drawers...
Torn apart! lol

Hi, Barbara
I am relatively new here too and not one of the most active participants, so I guess I can concur with your assessment of the the knitting expertise and quality of the projects without sounding like I am tooting my own horn!...lol Let me add that the human quality is of the highest caliber, too, as is the sense of humor and generosity.
One word of caution, though: if you are not a yarnaholic yet, watch out...lol

Shui Kuen,
One does expect wool to be slow-burning, but obviously the treatments can make a big difference...Do you really burn-test every kind of wool you knit with? I find it fascinating!
