Question about cashmere Annie, I think the extent of the softening effect of cashmere probably also depends on the other wool it is added to, but I can tell you that the Jo Sharp Silkroad feels much softer to me (the kind of yarn that feels really good against my neck) than the Jo Sharp DK, although the latter is not itchy - in fact, to me it feels softer than the PC alpaca.
But I`m sure the spinners around here must have more info for you.

Dale Hardangervidda WOW!!!!You did it again! And you make it sound so simple even a knitting hacker like me might jump in in a moment of delusion...Careful there!

Seek and Ye Shall Find Congratulations, Libby! Good news all-around. Now be really gracious with your dorky employer during the last few days - he unintentionally did you a favor, and you can laugh inside!

Proposal for an Elann site feature That`s a cool idea - something like the amazon.com wish list feature? I don`t know how if the maintenance/space, etc. required would be prohibitive in this case, but yes, that would be neat indeed.

Is the sf in your "name" for San Francisco, California?

You`re all new Aunties! Oh, that`s cute! I didn`t know sheep came in multiples, but you seem gald to get to keep Stormy, and so am I - he sounds adorable. Would love to see a pic of my new "nephew"...

Eileen, Your lace... Eileen, that`s a true work of art! Your friend will treasure it.
Isn`t that yarn the most gorgeous and nice-to-work-with? Do make something with it for yourself.

!@#$!! Shocking revelations w/HW! Oh, that`s amazing! I don`t know if it is illegal to resell the way she is doing it (ethical issues apart!!!), but copying advertising material verbatim from another source without credit is definitely against e-bay rules, and may be a solid reason for someone from Elann to lodge a formal complaint with e-bay. That might improve the situation, or at least cast a shadow on that perfect approval rating. Tough one!

Bets, cute cap for DGD I totally concur with Benne. It`s adorable. Was it the specific BW method of making bobbles you didn`t like? The results are very pretty - and again, lightning fast...

winter dry skin woes-a knitter`s bane Benne, I sympathyze with you. Here is my experience. Years ago I had such a bad problem that I had to use prescription cortisone creams for quite a while and wear cotton-lined rubber gloves for all household chores (including washing and peeling vegetables - no fun at all). After that stage, my skin has remained very particular about what it likes. Neutrogena hand cream (the kind that was developed for norwegian fishermen) works very well for me, so I always have it on hand. Pacquin also works for me on not-so-dry periods, and lotions with jojoba oil are good too. I try to alternate them. All over the counter, easy to find products. I also find that a good soap is a must, but sometimes I still need to apply neutrogena or one of the other creams after each hand washing.
You probably will need to experiment a little to find out what works best with your skin. Good luck.

Marta

P.S.: My DH thinks it is just an amusing whim of mine, but my skin has required much less lotion all over since I started using only soaps from soapdance.com. Look them up! (note: I have no financial interest in this...)

Ouch, my wrist hurts! Hi, Christine!

Sorry about your wrists. First off, listen to your doctor and don`t aggravate the situation. Rest and ice are usually high on the list of recommendations, so make sure you do it periodically.
I don`t have CTS, but arthritis sometimes bothers me, and I have found that circular needles (Denise, in my case) are much kinder to my hands and wrists than even bamboo straight needles.
Good luck. Hope you can return to knitting all the time - with some breaks - very soon.

Question about three-needle bind off This seems obvious, but I have to doublecheck in case I am missing something, as I am adapting a pattern, and trying to avoid frogging beautiful BC.
If one binds off both shoulders using this technique, the neck band will have to be worked in the round, right? Or can one also bind off one shoulder, do the neck, and then bind off the other shoulder/neck edge successfully with this technique?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Question about three-needle bind off Thank you for your input, Sandra. I don`t have circular needles thin enough for this yarn, and that`s what got me thinking about the alternative. I`m still working on the front, so probably a couple of days from that decision. Hopefully the answer will be clear by then and I won`t have to experiment too much. Worst case, I`ll sew the shoulders the usual way and learn this technique in another project...
Thanks again,

Marta

Question about three-needle bind off Thank you so much for your input. I am using both the short row and the three-needle bind off for the first time, and now I know for sure I won`t have to frog to get it right.

Ouch, my wrist hurts! T, Tylenol is not anti-inflammatory. One thing I forgot to mention that helps me a lot on localized inflammation is the application of thin slices of ginger to the site. No kidding, the edible root you buy for cooking is a very potent anti-inflammatory, and I don`t know of any side effects in this kind of application.
A paste of turmeric (another very potent anti-inflammatory) is also an alternative, but it`s messier than ginger.
I`ve used it on finger joints, elbows, etc., by just holdingit in place, or wrapping something around it to hold in place - you get the idea - several times a day.
A cream that gets high marks is caipsicinn (exact name?) based on red peppers, but it burns my skin badly, so I have never been able to determine its effectiveness.
Taking ginger capsules is another option (I do it with my rheumatologist`s approval) but you should check with your doctor first, of course.
Good luck there.

Marta

P.S. Congratulations on the boy. Just learned that my 3rd grandchild, also expected in June, is going to be another boy!

What`s your favorite book for baby stuff? I don`t have a specific book, but recently ordered from here Pingouin Winter Basic Layette which has a lot of really pretty stuff, that you can also knit plain-vanilla by ignoring the designs and following just the outlines. It was amazingly cheap, too. Check if it is still vailable, and look at the contents to see if you like it.
My experience with Pingouin patterns (2 toddler sweaters almost ready) has been very good - very precise and clear.
Good luck.

stephi773 What a nice way to use your whimsical knitting! Are you involved with a hospital auxiliary, or do you meet the kids persoanally? Either way, great!
